Don't let the numbers fool you tho..

How often have you seen a nice looking drive ended up on some head scratching plays?

Just against the Ravens alone, here are some bone headed plays that he called.

First 4th down - we're the visiting team, bad weather and all, and you'd think he'll try and get the 1st down to keep the ball on our hands. Sure we scored a TD, but we were just lucky on that the fact the Deevah made a great catch. what was the play, A LONG PASS??

Second 4th down - looking lost (Baltimore's D) while dealing w/the great running game we're having, Shanny once again called a mid range pass play.. Luckily again, the ref was dumb enough to call a PI on the CB even though they could have ignored it.

FINAL 4th down - well, you already know the result on this one.

You said you had yet to see one long drive but we have seen multiple as evidenced by the last 3 games.

You can question the play calling but as Schlereth pointed out earlier this year when calling one of our games, Shanny has explained to the team that he knows certain play calls won't gain much but it is called to set up other play calls they intend to run later in the game. Play calling is a game of chess between the OC and DC.

Fans can complain about not calling this or that play, but how often do those complaints account for the defensive personnel on the field and the defensive alignment on that same play? Because that actually matters and I would bet most of the time fans are not accounting for that at all.

Kyle is also widely regarded as the best play caller in the league. That does not mean he won't make bone headed play calls at times but there is no play caller in the history of the league who didn't make bone headed calls at times.

Regarding the first one, we don't know what was open and what was not and what Jimmy felt comfortable with. I highly doubt the first option was "throw it to the end zone and hope our guy gets it."

Don't remember what the distance was on the second one at this point but I think it was more mid range and we just didn't want to quick a longer field goal at that point. Regardless again you're ASSUMING that was the first read or option. It probably wasn't. We all know that almost every pass play, if not every one, has a short range/check down read, a mid range read, and perhaps a deeper read yet. Again Jimmy made that choice as much or more than Kyle.

Regarding the final one, after agreeing we probably should have ran it initially, primarily a sneak by Jimmy which I don't know if it's been stopped this year, I was okay with the pass. The one thing I wish we would have done differently was not be in the gun. Took any guess work by the Ravens defense pretty much out of the equation.

But hindsight is always 20/20. If Kyle would have run a QB sneak or handed it off and the Ravens get penetration and blow it up, the same people calling the pass a bad decision would have been saying the Ravens knew what we were going to do before we did it and were too predictable.
With the New Orleans game coming up, it will be interesting to see who Shanahan gives the most reps at RB. The obvious choice is #31, but Shanahan has never given him a start. Maybe with the national publicity and talk around the league about him, this may change. It's time.

If Breida is listed is playing , he is starting

Breida has earned it, it's his job to lose. I love Mostert, and would for him to get more touches. It's just an uphill battle for him. Good problem to have though when you got solid depth.
How has Breida earned it? He misses as many games as he plays. Same last season. Makes no sense. He's a great back but with serious limitations and can't be depended upon to be ready to play each week. If Kyle's inclination is to play the guy with the hot hand, Mostert's are on fire. His speed and balance are what sets him apart from other backs, plus at 5'10 and 205 he's very tough to bring down.

We might not agree on some things but I definitely agree with you on this one. He hasnt really been that good lately, he has dropped off since week 5. He is ass now tbh. So start Mostert
It really doesn't matter who starts. Everyone of the top 3 if Breida is a go will get touches and if someone gets a hot hand Kyle will ride it.
i really think it's time to have him get equal carries to coleman and breida.

he has big play and chunk play ability and has shown that throughout his career.

You absolutely NAILED it!

It doesn't matter at all.

A total waste of time debating who should start.

I'd like to see KS move Wilson to a WR position for a couple of plays w/ Breida and Mossert playing RB.
Is Mostert locked up next year?
I THINK he is, but if not, give him MCKINNEY'S MONEY !!!

They locked him up for 3 years @ $1.895 million per year.

I think he signed a three year extension last year.
