One thing I didn't understand is why we went away from him in the 2nd half
Mostert is our 2nd best rb behind breida but he should play more cause he seems less injury prone.

This concept is difficult for fans to understand. They're permanently stuck in Madden mode.

Agree. Run all three. Everyone is pretty fresh all game.

Smart!
Him fumbling was the real issue. He has changed something up because I've seen defenders make contact with the ball and he has held on to it. I remember one early in the year when the defender got lower and he coughed it up.
FINALLY! Raheem Mostert 9ers taking over as top running back - Matt Maiocco.

Raheem Mostert has never started a game in his NFL career, but he has become the 49ers' leading rusher and most-used running back. I have been pushing for him to be the featured back all season due to his incredible speed and balance as well as his determination. I wish him good luck.

Mostert played 40 of the 49ers' 67 offensive snaps on Sunday and has become a valuable member of the team's offense after earning his way onto the roster primarily because of his skills as a special-teams performer.

Mostert gained 69 yards and a touchdown on 10 rushing attempts in the 49ers' exhilarating 48-46 victory over the New Orleans Saints. He also caught two passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Mostert has taken over as the team's rushing lead with 608 yards and four touchdowns on 102 rushing attempts, good for a 6.0 average.

all the guy does is score TD, you can tell each time he carries the football that he's about to break a big run !!

His fumbling is a mirage. He has 3 in his career -- Coleman has 6. Raheem fumbled once this season in over 100 carries. He is not a fumbler. Wendell Tyler fumbled 13 times in his Pro Bowl season when he rushed for 1262 yards and caught passes for another 262 yards. He scored 7 TDs.
Here are Shanahan's comments to reporters today when he announced that Raheem Mostert is "moving up". "Raheem's earned it over these last few weeks," Shanahan told reporters. "I mean, how many games can you go and how many years can you go averaging six yards a carry, somewhere in there?

"I mean, we keep trying to balance it out and stuff, but what Raheem has done these last few weeks and has continued to do, we need to give him more opportunities. He's given us no choice. I'm happy for him, and it's been great. He's been extremely impressive." "Well, he's faster than most people, and I think sometimes it's a little bit deceptive," Shanahan explained. "I mean, you see guys who have an angle on him, and all of a sudden, they just don't. I don't know if they don't know that he's that fast, because our other guys are fast too.

"I'm not exactly sure what it is, but when you do it week in, and week out, it's time for people to notice. He's been pretty damn good, and he needs some more opportunities because he's making the best of it."

Mostert really started to come into his own last year. Great to see him build on that this year.

I don't think there's any question he's the best RB in their stable right now. Coleman started white-hot after returning from injury but really can't do anything at all these days.

Breida is always a great change of pace and can provide the speed off the edge, but Colonel Mostert is the clear no. 1 right now.
He'll be a ST Pro-Bowler with the help of his RB performance this year. Just hope he won't be playing in it along with Bosa, Kittle, Sherman, and Juice.
There's no top dog in Kyle's RB stable. Maiocco asked him about that. Kyle said they are all pretty much the same with each running certain play a bit better than others. So Kyle would go around sometimes asking coaches and even qb who they prefer to be in at a specific play. It also entails who got the hot hands.

At this point in the year, I think it's more like who's fresher off the bench. Mostert really good at reading blocks.

On his TD run, there was a defender trying to fill the hole, with a big opening to Mostert's right, but Mostert didn't take it. In a split second, he took it left instead as the defender went to fill to Mostert's right. Read it perfectly. Straight up TD.

Coleman has also had 500 more carries than Raheem lol but I agree his fumbling isn't that bad and he's a threat to take it to the house each time there is a sliver of room
Who has a backfield like this. The gods be generous after taking out McKinnon. It's like having 3 lambos and a luxury suv...

Agree. He's holding the ball much higher now and really putting two hands on the ball when he gets in traffic.

I still prefer Breida over Mostert and Coleman.
