No matter how good or bad you think Tomlinson is, he plays all the snaps. The O line isn't terrible at pass blocking but they aren't great either. They need to keep guys like him because of experience and his availability. If they draft someone better then they have the option of trading him or keeping him in the rotation. If it comes down to him or DJ Jones, Tomlinson probably wins out because he takes a much higher percentage of the snaps.

we just saw burrow go to the super bowl sacked 77 times with one of the worst lines ever, stop the cap

in no world is laken more of a priority than dj jones... they already drafted lakens replacement, banks.. whether yall like it or not.. thank god yall aint building our roster dawg

Im not going to argue who is number 1. I just think we were surprised by the leaps so many different players took. So its going to take some creative structuring to get all these guys signed. If it were just Laken or just Jones, this would be easy. But its Laken and Jones and Key and Willis and Williams, plus extensions for Deebo and Bosa.

the bosa and deebo extension opens up alot of salary cap, jimmy trade opens up cap space, the up in salary cap opens up cap space, jimmy ward wants to sign a new deal to open up cap space.. laken gone ... williams gone.. key, jones is not alot of money.. we need to bring in dj reed to replace williams.. we also drafted lenoir for this very situation.. this salary cap narrative is simply false

Huh? How does Bosa & Deebo extensions open up a lot of cap room? It doesn't, they're not signed past 2022. Jimmy saves us $25.55M, but we're gonna be, baring us getting a s**t ton of adjustments/credits, will be around $11.553M over the 2022 cap, and we need to be under with Jimmy on the roster once the new league yr opens.

Ward signing an extension would free up as much as $6.224M, I'm all for it, I'd say $11.5M a yr is fair.

Jones is going to get anywhere from $6M-$8M a yr, if he doesn't get re-signed before FA opens, then I can see him getting $10M a yr.

K'Waun won't be a big deal, like $3.5M a yr, Key should be $4M a yr, maybe as high as $6M a yr.

Not sure what narrative about the salary cap is false that you're talking about?

Do you realistically think we keep jones for 6m?

That made my day. Dump key sign ingraham if he has anything in the tank. That will be over 10m right?

Not sure how much they can save with Deebo because his 2022 cap hit is not much at all currently but with Bosa his cap hit in 2022 is almost $11 Million and with an extension they could lower his 2022 salary.

None with Deebo, they'll just turn his new base salary difference into a signing bonus like they did with Warner, as for Bosa, they can't save anything, they'll have to turn his training camp roster bonus into a bonus add a bit under $1.7m to make a $30m signing bonus.
suppose lt gets a 12m offer and he walks. do we have any serviceable options in FA for 8m or less?

LG wise? Probably not, they'd be better off going after Alex Cappa or James Daniels to play RG, move Banks to LG, Cappa & Daniels will be in that $8M-$10M a yr range, maybe $12M a yr, teams will be paying a lot, some overpaying for players this offseason.

Take a swing at Brandon Scherff maybe?

Likely gonna get $16M or more a year, no way we can afford that, not on a RG, we're already paying Trent $23.01M a yr, we're gonna give $30M+ a yr to Bosa, $20M+ a yr to Deebo, we gave $19M a yr to Warner, $15M a yr to Kittle, Ward could get a new deal in the $11M a yr range, AA got $17M a yr, Aiyuk probably gets $18M a yr with another great season, just gonna be tough to have all of these plus a $16M a yr RG.
Best move is to sign Ryan Jenson at Center and start Banks at left guard. Right side of the line needs some thought. 🤔

We could have gotten a perfect scheme fit C in Corey Linsley for $12M APY for 5 years last year. Ryan Jensen is making $10.5M right now. No way the FO goes this route. They'll most likely do the cheap vet ($4.9M) + draft pick who can learn from the vet. But if Mack retires, there goes that plan.

Wouldn't it be easier to develop a Guard?

Sure Linsley was/is a good scheme fit, but so is Mack, who yes is older, but, he's just as much as a scheme fit as Linsley is. I'd rather go with Mack for 2-3 yrs, and then have a young guy take over, just need to draft that young guy.

Yeah, but will never happen, that's a lot of cash for such a few amount of players.

Mack counts as 6.7 million against the cap. If resleased his cap hit is a little more than 2 million. We could back load jensons contract to have minimal effect on the cap using the 6.7 million cap for Mack. Need a stud center if Banks starts at LG. My Opinion. Kyle covets Centers.

The only issue with not going the security route of Lindsey or Jensen is that you need to spend a higher pick on a talented C to start learning from Mack...yesterday. But they didn't acquire that rookie last year so if Mack does retire now (speculation), their cheaper option plan failed. That C position is critical to Kyle's offense and is super nuanced and detailed beyond just making all the pass protection calls.
