The franchise tag will cost more than actually signing him.

He was ranking them based on the 9ers likelihood to resign them not importance.

We're more likely to resign Verrett than DJ because Verrett should be dirt cheap compared to DJ who will get a way bigger deal.

Damn you and your logic!

We really have to sign Tomlinson even if we pay three or 4 million over when we want to. The fact that he's never ever injured is more valuable than anything considering the injuries we've had over the years

LT's play this past season put him in the company of guys that earned $10-11M/yr. His cap number this past season was $6.6M. If he doubles that, we are out. However, if Parage can push some back to 2024 and a few other tricks to keep his cap at $9-10M, we might be able to keep him. Just spit-balling...

Yeah, he's going to make double digit figures. Almost every higher end FA, no matter the position, is going to get that nowadays. That's just what the market is now.

I remember doing an older analysis of teams with the most players with double digit APY. I think the highest at the time was, 7. They were almost always the playoff/best teams. Now? Probably every team has at least 5+.

What about James Daniels? Is is slated to make more, the same, or less?

My guess would be a little less than LT.

That would be my guess too. But I also believe he's probably a little more talented than LT in terms of his physical ability and fit in this scheme coming from Iowa.

Sounds great to me! How's his pass protection?

Laken Tomlinson pass block grade 69.2

James Daniels pass block grade 68.3

Something tells me that our ability to run the ball and Jimmy's quick release made Tomlinson's grade higher and his job easier than Daniels had in Chicago.. I think they're very similar though.

Have to believe it's a depth thing. We seemed to have a bounty of D linemen, but the cupboard was bare at CB. I'd place the position at a higher priority, but not the player.

I'd pass on all 4. Unless we get below market deals.

You don't pass on a guy like LT who's been one of the most reliable players you can possibly think of, providing he can be re-signed at a realistic increase from the current salary. For a fanbase that has constant injury-PTSD Tomlinson provides the exact opposite. An OL with a durability track record like his will be highly coveted by a bunch of teams so he (his agent) may simply end up hella pricing out the Niners. He's looking for a huge payday which you certainly don't blame him.

Yeah we acquired him for dirt cheap and it was a great move. Find the next dirt cheap guy. Interior O-line isn't where you pay massive. I bet Banks shows up next year in a big way. I mean with Mack, McG and Trent that's a powerhouse o-line right there and expensive too. Round out the guards with more cost effective diamonds in the rough.

Been there, done that. Powerhouse?

I'm not sure what he means by paying massive? Continuity matters and that left side of the OL is pretty freaking good. Being able to actually play matters and LT does that.

I could see him getting 4yrs $38M or something like that. I mean no one should expect him to make elite money but let's not have to fill another hole. Also who knows about Banks. Reports said he looked like the worst lineman in camp and wasn't activated for a good chunk of the year. Couldn't beat out a pretty subpar Brunskill and it's not like Banks was some elite raw talented OG. He was a multi-year starter who had some of the top OL coaching staffs in college.

This. Every bit of it. Offseason should focus on filling holes, not creating them. LT should be right behind Bosa and Deebo as far as priorities go.

Mostert and Verrett should be cheap, so I could see those two being brought back. Tomlinson might ask for too much, but I think they'll look to bring him back too Imo. As for D.J, I think he'll be playing elsewhere next season, most likely with the Seahawks.

idk about that, LG's will get more money IMO, then again Scherff, a RG, will get like $16M a yr, so who knows.

Agreed, Laken & DJ IMO need to be top 2 priorities, the extensions for Deebo & Bosa will come later in the summer like Kittle & Warner's did.

You know he's gone when we sign a G off the Bengals PS!

Wow we are getting really desperate when we are now signing a 55 year old actor to play guard for us
