Then I am find with it. But if they are not going to re-sign him and then also decide to not do anything at all, or decide to go shopping at the dollar store, Then no that would be dumb.

I would hope that they can sign Jackson or Gilmore and then let LT go.

Of the three, my priority is Tomlinson, then Jackson, then Gilmore. With the question marks at RG and Center, the last thing we want is to lose Tomlinson.

Even though I think JC Jackson would help the 2022 team more, I still prioritize Tomlinson over a vet CB. Solely because the team is trying to develop Lance's pocket skills and Laken, or any good left guard, helps that more than a CB.
Dj is a difference. Maker. He stay. For 8m

We think the same. Protect the family heirloom.
What worries me is we have Laken's replacement in house already and if we give him like $12-14 Million a year and then Banks kills it in training camp and proves to be just as good, if not better than Laken. Then it becomes a bad contract because he is not needed. To a lesser extent I have the same concerns about DJ. Kinlaw will start if he is healthy and so are you going to be ok with giving $8 Million to a non starter?

Fair concerns. But we still need a top RG and the DL is all about rotation especially inside.

Want want want.

Try twice of what Laken will get, no way I'd pay any CB $20M or anywhere close to that.

You know we start two guards right? But agree I hope we don't go above like 10M per year for Laken

Most say this but when Lance is struggling and running for his life because Trent is the only one capable of pass blocking it'll be the same here willing to let Laken walk killing Lynch and claiming Trey a bust. You're not winning a damn thing with a s**t oline. Would I love an elite cb yes but not at the expense of making the oline horrific. Just get more depth at cb with solid players, they don't need to be great if the dline gets to the qb

This. For a team that is always battling the injury bug, LT needs to be a priority.

When we got him from the Lions (I know he was a high pick) I was like meh, but in 5 years the guy has turned into a pro bowler that is a bout to get PAYED. How many Brandon Thomases or crappy lineman from Stanford do we have to draft lol. The jury is still out on the dancing bear but we need to keep LT if we can and get JC Jackson, resign Bosa and Deebo.

That may be true but then you got to consider the opposite end of that. Having teams whip our ass in the playoffs or throughout the year due to our average corner play by passing against us with great quarterbacks and elite receivers.

We absolutely cannot rely on the pass rush getting home to bail our corners out and we certainly cannot rely on the referees to call holding on our pass rushers at a reasonable level leaving our corners out to dry. Trey will be able to avoid sacks so it definitely works both ways.

We should be able to afford a very good cb and Tomlinson (or at least a solid guard to replace him for cheaper)

Don't worry
We have to keep the trenches strong then we can look on the perimeter
Trent, Tomlinson and Mack (to an extent due to age) are the only ones worth paying a grip for. Everyone else is merely depth / question mark

Banks and Moore might turn out to be something for real and McGlinch might come back much better. Yes, it's nice to keep hope alive, but we got a sophomore QB who is still raw and yet, we have a s**t load of SB talented playmakers. We seriously need to keep as many of our own guys together and win another ****ING SB. Like Yesterday!

Agreed. You've got to do everything you can for a rookie. We have plenty of weapons and we'll probably add a speedster/KR to the mix now too.

This isn't just about protecting him this year and giving him a chance to learn properly, but for the future too.

Trent isn't getting any younger, Mack hopefully makes it through one more season healthy, 50/50 if Tomlinson is back, massive question marks on Brunskill, McGlinchey, Banks and Moore...Compton resign?

The FO needs to attack the OL like they do the DL now and overkill on it IMHO.
