OL Laken Tomlinson, signs with NYJ

Paying a guard over $13 Million a year who is good but not elite is way too much.
Was he unhappy here? He left here faster than the Jets hopes of making the playoffs do
Overpaying a guard two hours into the tampering period isn't usually the sign of a winning franchise. And I am usually one to b***h that the Niners don't do anything in FA. But it was good that they let this one go
That tweet he sent out just oozes of tampering, pretampering period.
The buck has to stop somewhere. He's a solid player but a guard is easier to replace than a tackle.
Happy for him. Niners weren't going to go that high for a guard and they shouldn't.

Of course. But every team does it so nobody really cares.

I hope Aaron "Joshua Garnett v2" Banks isn't their answer at LG.

I think that was the plan all along. The 9ers we're most likely preparing themselves for this day the moment they decided to draft Banks

I´m happy for Laken who has been tremendous for the Niners. I hope he will be great with the Jets. It was too much money to pay for him. I´ d much rather see the Niners give a big contract to a Pass Rusher or a CB.

Yup great move not to get pulled into this money pit. Solid player but you don't pay a king's ransom for guys with a solid contract year for their 30+ year seasons. NYJ makes sense as they have money to burn like we did in 2017.

Yeah, Paying a ton for a guard is just not something we are in a position to do. Letting him walk was the right decision.
This is the part where we say, "He was never really that great anyhow."

So for those who need to do that, remember, he's the only G in history who personally put his QB on I.R. twice...in the same year.

You're welcome.

Ya, there's no way we were matching that. Good for him, will be missed though

He was never that great anyhow. Hope he gets Trent Williams a nice present since he's the reason he looked so good. Like that NC?

He improved each year imo, and he was always available which is a sad bonus given how things usually work out lol

That being said, it was money well not spent imo. We just have to hope Banks and Moore are good and they start drafting actual great o lineman lol

Banks was drafted for Trey Lance. Same with Sermon. Probally why neither played much at all last season.
