They spent so heavily in FA and re-signing guys that they're low on space. How do you think we got Pierre Garcon? It also makes your window for a championship run much smaller. Why has SEA's been open for the past 4 years? Because they drafted most of their guys. They've only used trades and FA to get guys they think can put them over the top, like Jimmy Graham and Eddie Lacey. They've also let some of their guys who are getting up in age to walk in FA - like Bill Walsh used to do.

all the pro bowl guys were just lining up to play for the niners...come on, we were lucky to even get the FAs we got. good players dont want to play for a team that was 2-14 and all the issues we've had. it's gonna take a couple of years until we can get the big FAs.

I mean sus must be a GM for an NFL team, right? Because Lynch doesn't seem like he's trying at all.

i get a bit nervous cuz it seems this year. and maybe its that way all the time with every team. when we say oh its a minor deal like with ward. and he will not miss the regular season.. all of a sudden it changes and we are looking at a worse situation than what we first were led to believe. if that makes sense
It does make sense. Ward's injury was a hamstring, and those have a tendency to linger. Staley's thing was with his knee and he was fine on the sideline and wanted to go back in the game.

Just tendonitis. Manageable with rest and medication.

There is a place on the O Line for a powerful run blocker with some decent lateral athleticism. I don't think this trade is approved without Kyle's say so and input. The type of offensive scheme does play into the matter. It could be that he sees a lot of potential in Trent Brown as a mauler and if you put another mauler next to him, they would be more effective in the kinds of things that Kyle might like to try in the future. Also, it might speak to Carol's disappointing preseason. Are they trying to get more man type blockers for Carlos? If so, does that mean Carlos is here for the long haul, and it was the O Line that was the problem and not Carlos?

He is better than Fusco. That's all that matters.
To me, this speaks of a long-term trade thinking. I don't think they're picking him up because of Garnett or Fusco or even Beadles. ShanaLynch know this is a rebuild and have talked about knowing it's a rebuild and multi-year process. This more looks like an aggressive move to acquire a player they felt was on the bubble of another team who still has upside. They're treating him like a late round draft pick. He's got up to 3 more years on his contract and they obviously have had their eye out on other teams for possible upside talent that they can add to the team and see how they develop. This wasn't a deal to move the talent dial and make us competitive this year, IMO. I think it's a case where they know Beadles doesn't have a future here and they were on the lookout for a guy who has potential to fill that spot, is young and won't cost a lot for draft capital. Smart, sound move. I like it.

Dude must have really sucked to get traded in his third year. As long as he's not Marcus Martin or Chilo Rachal bad I'm ok with him.

This really a low risk, high reward situation. Right now we are just renting him for a year to see what he can do his contract is not guaranteed for next season so we can get rid of him at pretty much no cost. Just because he didn't do well in Detroit means absolutely nothing to me. If you Fizzles out no big deal. If you can play and our scheme and responds well to our coaching we have a very nice young player.
To those that wanted to spend big free-agent money in year one of a rebuild are just crazy. Go back to playing Madden.

The Bibbs trade wasn't even about Bibbs mainly. We got a 5th and Bibbs. Gave Denver a 2018 4th. With their 5th we got Trent Taylor. That was the real gem of the trade.
