I haven't seen too much of this guy, What are the chances that he could be involved tonight?

Might be a little too soon but who knows. Maiocco seems to think he starts week 1 for us. I think he should compete with Fusco at RG.

I doubt he plays tonight with not even 24 hours to absorb the playbook.

With the trade happening this close to the regular season, his spot is safe. The team will give him some time to get semi caught up.

Has struggled badly to be a LG while he's a natural RG back on his days at Duke. I doubt he gets any consideration for starting role on Week 1 but he might get change of being active on Week 2 or 3 until he learns some basics of Shanahan's offense.
our Guard situation improves once Lake get's accustomed to the scheme, and Garnett comes back healthy and ready to play

i think Lake will be a good fit in this blocking scheme

He's basically going to be the starter if Garnett is still not coming back. They seem to be trying everything they can to not play Beadles at LG.
To everyone saying it's no risk, I wouldn't go that far. Look who we got in the fifth round this year. Taylor and Kittle. And people are already crowning Kittle the next Jordan Reed. Sounds like a pretty big risk to me, if you're missing out on talent like that by trading it for a first round bust guard. A fifth rounder also can be a difference maker in trading up to the second from the third.

That being said, I know Shanny and Lynch aren't just gambling and throwing picks around. They see something in him.

Solid potential and I expect either Garnett (most likely) or Tomlinson to be able to start and do a good job for us moving forward.
LT Staley
LG Fusco
C Kilgore
RG Tomlinson
RT Brown

That's my guess

It's been made clear to me that if a guy is available at a certain spot we will do what's necessary to get them. Trading up and ensuring we got CJ Beathard and Joe Williams for example. We could easily re-acquire a 5th rounder in 2019 in next years draft too.
At worst, Laken plays a utility role, backing up both guard and tackle spots. At best, he starts at guard and provides an upgrade on the interior run blocking.

5th round pick is kinda rich, but Im ok with it. This roster is in shambles folks. Gotta start somewhere.
What's there to like about this deal already? Let's see him play some downs in a Niner uni first, yea? So far the only tangible upside is Lynch only gave up a 5th.

Yea we can, but you don't wanna be throwing picks around just gambling on busts.

Just realized that Mayhew works under lynch. No wonder we traded for mayhews first round pick lmao.
