MM on KNBR at noon said Laken takes over for Beatles. I thot it was Magnus, but MM says Laken so fine. Now Hoyer 33% less likely to be severely injured and put out of the game.
I hope...

Great news...wide body should help in pass protection. Not sure about the run game.

Right now, NC, this game....we need pass pro. Object of this game is to have hoyer healthy and available for next 10 games minimum. And SEA may have the intent of really cutting our legs out by literally going after HOyer's legs. We'll know the answer to that one after the first series. If they are Qb head hunting...or leg hunting, we will see it. Typical Peter Cheater. That would mean CJ comes in and then they go after his head and legs. Nah, we gotta worry only about pass pro this game, and if one OL makes a block for Hyde, fine. I am a lot more worried about our Qbs this game and seeing they can still play the rest of the season. Really doesn't that sound like a peter cheater move....wipe out our qBs when boht are inexperienced?

Doc, if you are worried about the pass protection, I truly believe it starts with a good consistent ground game. When that happens, it's very difficult for a defense to key in on stopping the pass with a pass rush type defense. So while you might worry about the pass protection, I'm worried about the run game. Carolina shut down the zone run, so if you want Hoyer healthy, it starts with getting that zone run off the ground.

Yeah but Giedi, you saw what kind of blocking we got from OG-C-OG. NADA. You can't be calling run plays if your OL just doesn't block for you.

I'm re-watching the game tonight. From what I saw live and so far in review, he was more than "just adequate." He rag-dolled some very good Seattle linemen on a couple of occasions. OTOH, there appeared to be some miscommunication on pass pro that led to pressures/hits. That may have been Kilgore's fault of bad protection calls but Seattle's front 7 have made a living for a long time confusing opposing OLs.
I'll probably be lazy and wait to add my thoughts on OL to Marvin's always worthy reviews, but for now, I like this guy.

Very solid. Less than 3 weeks on the team and already an improvement over Beadles
