It's also entirely possible Garnett could have come back mid-season but the coaches wanted to hold onto another lineman, so they IR'd him even though he might have come back.

Kilgore looks like a sleeper too...just not in the way you mean
Bring Zuttah back!!!
There must be something wrong with Zuttah though that our FO isnt releasing. Even the ravens took him back and then days later said...NOPE.
Something is wrong with Zuttah. He is one of our biggest setbacks on OLine. I bet no one knew he would have lost that much passion in an off season. We could've came after another player...

He did good. Now we have to find a replacement for Kilgore.
Can Magnuson play C? lol
Yes.
Kilgore was getting just mauled & manhandled all game long it seemed like. We have to do something to get better o-line play
He was OK in pass protection but was getting rag-dolled much of the time on run plays.
It is impossible to know about protection calls but it seemed the calls were not correct at times.

I still want to see us pick up a few o-lineman to develop next year, but at least Tomlinson/Garnett/Brown gives us a bit of a young core to build on.
Agreed. Also I think they need to think about either drafting Staley's replacement in the next couple years or seeing if Brown can be moved to LT. I don't see Staley still being here in two years.
Leave Trent at RT. The hand and footwork is completely different when you switch. It's like telling an orthodox boxer to fight southpaw. This ain't Madden.
Niners immediate need is at Center right now and Shanny will most likely look to getting a vet in there to be the brains up front. I'm hoping we go after Weston Richburg or Corey Linsley.
Perhaps we get lucky and find a starter in day 2 of the draft at LT.
OLT is still the premium position because it's the blind side, however, good defenses have guys that they can move around to take advantage of a RT that may not be as adept at pass pro.
Leave Brown where he is and draft a replacement for Staley. I'm worried about him. He doesn't seem to have quite the quickness he did in the past. Shanahan also noted that he has some "wear and tear" on his knees. That is a tell-tale sign as far as I'm concerned. Let's hope he can get us through this season.

yep, ive mentioned richburg in a few threads about improving our O-line next year. He just makes the most sense. One of the best Cs in the league and Giants probably wont have money to resign him. He should be our offseason FA priority
Richberg would be an instant fixture for the center of the line. He has a very low cap number now and will expect to get paid. NY only has a bit over $4million in cap space at present, although I expect to see them move a lot of dead wood. That team just doesn't have the fire power this year. I expect to see them clear $20+million in cap space next off-season, and do some re-loading.

I like this discussion. Would prefer a proven C if possible, but if not, we need top pick to go for FR QB. Buy our Center in FAa assuming he is worthy.

Also would like to see Mag get some time at C to see what he got, maybe by midseason. Never saw what some saw in Kilgore. He's not trash, but always been meh and ragdolled on the norm

I agree about center, Kilgore is just average and gets hurt too much.
If anyone should know the value if a really good center, it's Kyle tho.
Alex Mack really made that ATL oline special.

considering the facts and circumstances:
1) He faced a terrific seattle interior linemen
2) His first start with the team was in noisy seattle
3) He was named starter shorter than a week
4) He was pretty good
So I would say that he did more than ok.

I like Richburg but early indications coming out of NY are they'll do what they can to keep Richburg at the expense of letting Pugh walk.

Maybe Pugh could move to C?
