Good folks of the Webzone.
Don't put traits on this dude that simply don't exist. This is a fair trade for a backup-level guard. It's nice to have depth. But don't hype this dude up. He's not that good, and that has nothing to do with playing in Detroit.

In any case, good move. OG is clearly a weakness, perhaps 2nd worst depth on the team after CB.
Nope. Pure power run blocking blocking RG.
He isn't very mobile at all but that is ok. Run behind him and Brown on the right side. They are beasts.
Fusco had talked about that power on the right with he and Brown. I wonder if this is to beef it up even more? They want two pancake makers on the right?

He wasn't that good...not sure he's a fit for zbs either, but a 5th in 2019 for a 1st rd pick why not.

Bottom Line Tomlinson has treated defenders like a squat rep at times, but getting defenders centered and jacked will be tougher in the NFL. His lack of athleticism is a major concern and will cause problems winning initial engagements as defenders will get into him first. What Tomlinson lacks in second-level ability he makes up for in straight-ahead power and an ability to stalemate power players. His success in the NFL could be predicated on scheme and landing spot.
Interesting that he seems more of a man blocker than a zone blocker. I have no clue at all about him though other than a couple of articles I've read about him. Interesting trade and an interesting player they got. I'm betting Kyle knows what to do with this guy and make him a star.
We can get away with a power guard on the right side in a zone scheme.

He may be backup-level but Maiocco seems pretty positive that he'll be a starter...

Agreed, I didn't think he was a 1st rd talent. He can smash people but I just don't see the fit

He is better than Fusco. That's all that matters.

A higher draft choice than Tomlinson, or do you just mean a higher draft choice in general? Yeah Martin totally sucked for being a somewhat higher draft choice if that's what you meant but he wasn't drafted higher than Tomlinson.

Just put him on the right side. Run behind him and brown maybe they'll murder fools since they're so big.

If he opens up holes on the right side next to Brown it won't matter the scheme

I guess so, why not. They should have tape on this kid at the NFL level as well. Can't say they didn't know.

Martin was drafted because he apparently had so much upside.
Everyone knows what you get with Tomlinson. He is a power blocking road grader. Don't make him anything he isn't and don't put him on the left side vs quicker DT's. Put him on the right side and tell him to destroy the NT. Done
