He dropped about 15 lbs since his combine...not sure what they ran in Detroit, maybe this is just a better scheme fit? Seemed to look better as the season went on (it was rough at the beginning). I feel like better center play will help as well kilgore was poop

The key word in this deal is $18M, $10M SB max. I'm sure there are some big incentives that won't be earned in that contract that will basically make this a 3 year, $20M all in deal.

$6-7M for a starting LG with upside is pretty darn good. With a training camp to learn the system more, I could see Tomlinson performing at a top 15 level at LG. That salary for that play is the Paraag way.

Agree - good post!

That's not a bad deal at all! chump change compared to what guards are getting now. Now I wonder if that gets tagged onto his current contract?

You nailed it!

In case there was any doubt who will be starting at LG:

I hope he improves in his 2nd year with us and a better player at C...need him to reach that potential. Not sure excited for this but I'm trusting Kyle on the offensive side of things.

I think the whole team will improve in the 2nd year.

IMO, KS must have seen something really good for him to make this move.

I'll take that....now we're down to Garnett and Cooper. honestly looking at kyle's guards in the past, he doesn't need to pay a Andrew Norwell type of guy to run an effective offense.

It's not critical (esp. now that we avoided a big pay day to Brown and swapped it for a rookie salary) but I'd still take an all pro Norwell over Tomlinson.

Don't hold you breathe on Kyle paying a guard 5 yrs $65 million lol

Some day man, it's going to happen...I can dream!

Lol...I'll invest that type of cash into a pass rusher

This dude sucks don't know why they signed him.

You losing your s**t about every single thing the Niners do is oh so predictable LOL.

You're right this is predictable this is the same front office that are paying ward and AA almost $20 million combined, paying a 3rd down rb $12 million next year and $137 for a qb that only started 5 games for you. So yeah shouldn't be too surprised right.

Looks very agile here. Shanahan knows what he wants in his OL - Tomlinson has apparently shown him what he needs to see. By the way, loved this play to close out the game vs. the Jags.
