solid guard, now if we can only get someone to replace josh trashnett, we would have a solid oline

Why so hard on Garnett - he's a totally different player now. Give him a chance to show what he's got.

Because there are now three players vying for RG. With Person sharing starter time with Garnett, and J. Cooper still to come, things look bleak for JG.

Damn so all our rookies this yr are busts because they haven't proven otherwise?

no? none of them have even played, Garnett has never flashed and sucked his rookie year , theres a difference. Sucknett was also a 1st rounder, so he should be criticized more harsh.

Just like how Kilgore became a top 10 center when Jimmy was the QB.

You losing your s**t about every single thing the Niners do is oh so predictable LOL.

You're right this is predictable this is the same front office that are paying ward and AA almost $20 million combined, paying a 3rd down rb $12 million next year and $137 for a qb that only started 5 games for you. So yeah shouldn't be too surprised right.

AA is making 3 million this season, so Ward and AA are on the books for roughly 11.5 million this year. Your math is almost as bad as your football "opinions".

Lol

Nice! And I have to hand it to Trent Taylor blocking on Yannick, man that was a *good block*!!

Beautiful.

I expect him to be even better after a full camp which he didn't get last year.

Joe Staley played like trash under chip kelly...in fact every single offensive player play horrible that yr, Goodwin sucked until this past yr, Tomlinson was s**t in Detroit....you need some context...or you can just say so and so is trash just because.

The more uncertain bets, like Attaochu or Cooper, they've hedged their bets more. Ideally you want the have the highest cap payout because you have great players, like the Warriors. Even Jimmy is a gamble, I think it's a good gamble, but still a gamble. We'll soon find out in wins and losses if these gambles pay out or not.

We will see how this contract looks, but in the grand scheme of NFL contracts these aren't major gambled IMO...JG has $48 million in guarantees, so throw out the whole we paid him $137 million nonsense...if he's turns into aaron Rogers he will see all that cash, if not he's gone in two yrs without putting the team in major cap hell.

AA's contract is only injury guaranteed for next yr...the gamble is if he can't pass a physical next April (which is sketchy) in reality they can move on from him with zero dead money, I believe. Ward is a backup that's getting paid too much. BUT He can play every position and if you think about that (and how much you save by not having to pay backup money at all those spots) then it's not that wild. Personally, I just don't think he's really that great but as a backup it's fine.

Finally without this contract (don't know the breakdown) SF has $46 million in cap space and another $32 million next yr...throw in a couple easy cuts and they're rolling into next yr with around $90 million to play with...they can afford whatever they want.

Well, sure, I agree. That's the positive Jedi point of view. Sus is looking at it from the Sith Lords point of view. Me, I'm just looking at it from Han Solo's smuggler's point of view.

That block may be why Taylor has a bad back.

Edit: That is such a well designed play. Staley's block on Jack is what sprung him. I have not been this excited about the potential of the 49er offense in a LONG time.

It was a very well designed play, but look at how slow Kilgore is and is basically is pushed back into the backfield nearly ruining Trent Taylor's block, and Fusco just basically didn't have the speed to make his block on the down field DB. With a much faster line, you don't need the power vs. a man blocking line like Harbaugh's.

As long as he's playing better I don't care lol...good qb play will always make the OL better.
this extension says a lot--about Trent Brown and his lack of dedication and preparation. imho TB had all the talent needed--but just did not put in the work necessary. Tomlinson has done so and gets rewarded for it.

It's all about scheme fit. If he played bad early in the season but then played well under jimmy, what difference does it make?

Maybe he got better once the season progressed or maybe he got better because of jimmy.

Bottom line he got better.

That and they didn't want to pay Brown top RT $ if he's not proven to have an excellent work ethic (and rookies are way cheaper and we get Mike for that 5th year too).

The QB has a lot to do with the "QB hits allowed" stat. Agree or disagree?

nm NY you answered in your post. Looks like that stat isn't a good indicator of true OL play.

thing is he never has been good unlike joe, there is no context to even go by with this guy , and he is a first round pick! if there already doubts if he even going to start, then lol. jury out on this guy and i will obviously love to eat crow but till then he is trash in my book.
