David Johnson was a 3rd round pick and Le'Veon Bell was a 2nd round pick. Jordan Howard, #2 in rushing last year, was a 5th round pick. Devonta Freeman, who just got $41 million, was a 4th round pick. Oh and current 49er Carlos Hyde, a 2nd round pick, is #3 in the NFL in rushing.

Not sure why one person's talent is predicated on the draft position of those before him. Please evaluate players based on their skill, not the skill of others.

Yeah I'd still take barkley top 5 and not think twice

For those who are saying that taking a RB with a top 3 pick is ridiculous, you have to understand that he is a freak of nature and has GOAT talent. He is an offensive weapon that needs to be accounted for. His skill set mimics marshall faulk's. He's probably the safest draft pick going in the top 10.

Without Fournette, the jags offense is nothing. Who cares what he's averaging. The fact is that he's effective and doing what other guys couldn't do on the jaguars for years.
Hype train
Lynch and Shanny are not stupid. Both probably already know it will be stupid to pass on this guy given he meets every skill set in this team. The dilemma will be whether we take a QB or not over this guy. My sense is that if no other stand out talents pop up, ShannaLynch will pay Cousins and select Barkley and bye bye Hyde.

QB and pass rusher are our biggest needs. If we address both of those in FA or have our eye on someone in the 2nd or 3rd for those positions, then yes...take Barkley.

Sometimes i cant believe the way Barkley moves with his size. He is built like a fullback but runs like darren sproles. Insane!

We better not be taking another DL with our top pick for the 4th year in a row.

Please sign one from FA or trade (or as you mentioned, please use 2 or 3 rounder to fill need)
CBS Sports writer Chris Trapasso projects Saquon Barkley to the Giants with the fourth pick in his latest mock draft.
On paper, this is a perfect fit. The Giants have gotten nothing out of the running game this year, and Barkley (5'11/230) would help New York both as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield. With the Giants off to an 0-3 start, it's not crazy to think they finish the year with a high pick. Assuming there's not an offensive lineman they prefer, Barkley probably wouldn't get past the G-men.

Yeah that would be a dynamic offense but the QB is not good anymore.

The Giants should spend their first overall pick on the OL.
