I hope Barkley runs for 300 and catches for 100 on Saturday!

i am starting to warm up to the idea of Barkley and i have been totally against rumors of us taking Gurley, Gordon, Fournette and Elliot over the past years. I dont like the idea of taking a RB in the first but i think Barkley is just insanely talented and smart. I know "insanely talented" and "freak athlete" are thrown around alot for RB prospects every year, but Barkley is most well deserving of those titles.

Me too, so Cleveland scoops him up

Rather get Bryce love in 2nd...

He's projected to get picked in the 1st round and if he finishes the season with 2200+ rushing yards, there's very little chance he falls to our 2nd round pick.

Same was said of Dalvin Cook

Cook had character issues.

Cook had character issues, absolutely sucked at the combine relative to what he was projected to do, and didn't come near 2200 rushing yards (1765).

And there were some injury issues
He kind of reminds me of Clinton Portis.

I'm sure Kyle and Mike will take notice. He's such a perfect scheme fit in every way and he's a legit NFL 3 down back. He can run, catch, block and do it all exceedingly well, especially the run and catch portions. I think Elliott was a better overall blocker but Barkley is far ahead of him in the route running and pass catching categories.

Yeah, IIRC the Shanahans lean on scheme over talent for offense, but his versatility would give the offense a boost across the board.
The thing that stands out is his vision. He's very much in control of where he's going. Barkley minus the vision is kind of like Joe Williams (he has the wiggle though).

Reminds me of David Boston.

However, the 49ers need to address their interior line with two impact FA and then they should draft another tackle in the 3rd round. (as a swing tackle and a heir apparent to Staley)
Tomlinson and Garnett will be the guards next year. I'm fine with that. It's Kilgore that needs to be replaced. Brown is elite, Staley will play for 2 more years and start

Even Mike splurged for Portis with a 2nd rounder. I could see a lot of interest in Barkley considering how well he does everything needed in that offense.

I hope not. While I have some hope for Tomlinson, Garnett proved me right-he's garbage. I like to get Barkley but the 49ers need to seriously improve their o line or else what's the point of drafting him if he constantly faces TFL in the backfield?

In his rookie season he proved you right as garbage? I say we should give him another year at least.

Back on topic; I would love Barkley, especially if we can get Cousins. We need a QB first and foremost.

Agree 100%. We need some offensive weapons...

I would love for the team to have a true matchup nightmare like Barkley. Use him the way the Cards use David Johnson which made him so difficult to stop, a RB that you can line up all over the place and is as effective in the passing game as in the run game.
if we go QB , we can get the next best thing if RB is needed, Love

Landing Cousins is the key imo (assuming we end up with no.1 pick). If you have your QB...it makes it so much easier to go BPA.

I'd draft him no.1 overall even if we don't end up with Cousins...you don't pass on a player like him.

Getting Cousins and drafting Saquon will jolt this offense.
