You forgot to add $64 million to the 2018 number.

49ers will have ~$115 million in cap space.

Ok even with rollover the Redskins can easily match a contract we offer. Unless we offer a 60 million first year contract I just don't see the skins giving him up.

Lol then fire Lynch. No player is worth 60 mil a year.

Maybe so, but it won't be for lack of cap space.

The 49ers have enough cap space that no free agent will be off limits.

I agree. I just see Jimmy G as a more realistic free agent than Cousins. I just feel like the Skins who have been in cap trouble have continued pushing his contract down until they got out of cap trouble. And all the while Cousins has used us as leverage for more money than he's really worth.

Depending on what moves Lynch makes in FA, Barkley could be on the Niners' radar. Even if they re-sign Hyde (seems likely) it'd be hard for Shanahan not to covet him. He is the real deal...with enough speed to take it to the house, rare tackle-breaking abilities, catches the ball very well and has rare stamina. In Coach's offense, I'd think Barkley would be ideal. Can't ever have too many studs...and Saquon is extremely studly. I want him on our team.

Yes! Give me a Saquon Barkley! Me Likey!

Not really. They have a s**tload of their own free agents to sign. They would have to give up on most of them, basically leaving them with a skeleton crew roster.

You can look up and down their roster to see just how many players they have on one year deals, all guys who will be expecting substantial raises.

Patriots aren't letting Garoppolo go after trading away Brissett.

49ers with rollover are set to have over $110 million in cap space. Washington has about $60 million with many crucial free agents to re-sign.

Pryor and Breeland are the only ones I see as must resigns. One of their ILBs should be kept as well. That's not eating up their entire cap. And to retain a QB you let good players go. So maybe Pryor is done in Washington.

So their going into next year spending 40+ million at QB?

Many crucial Free Agents? Breeland is like the only crucial one. Zach Brown and Mason Foster are good LBs but crucial no. Pryors fun but I would say keeping a QB is more crucial. Laovau is not crucial. Obviously I'm pissing in people Cheerios a little to early with my doubt Cousins signs here.

Terrelle Pryor
Bashaud Breeland
Zach Brown-Who has been absolutely fantastic for them so far this season
Spencer Long-Crucial starter on their OL

All of those guys will command big raises.

Beyond that they need to work out an extension with Jamison Crowder who has become a very good player on their offense and special teams as well as looking at re-signing Trent Murphy, who despite a torn ACL has been a good player for them in the past.

At minimum you're looking at eating $20-25 mil to bring those guys back. If the 49ers wanted to craft an offer that would be extremely difficult for the Redskins to match, they could do so pretty easily.

If they had any intention of letting Garoppolo go, they would not have traded Brissett. They would not have turned down 1st round pick offers from other teams. If you listen to beat reporters from New England, they seem pretty confident that Garoppolo is the designated QB of the future, even if it means letting Brady go a year or two early.

I think the odds of the 49ers getting Cousins are far better than the odds of them acquiring Garoppolo. For all intents and purposes he seems to be off the market.
