Poll: Like or Dislike Players Protesting During the National Anthem?

Firstly, the comparison of lightning to shootings was for statistical anomalies, not to compare racism to acts of nature. But I know you are smarter than that, stop with the feelings.

Secondly, I read your articles. One was for correctional officers in Georgia admitting to smuggling drugs into a prison for profit (hardly a admission of racism that leads to police officers killing black people), and the other was about how quota based policies by local governments leads to officers finding areas that have higher rates of traffic violations so they can collect more money. Which in one officers opinion meant gay and minority communities are targeted more.

Thirdly, an article about how a team owner received some vile racist messages about Lebron does not prove that police officers are racist murderers and that the country is racist by nature. Some people are racist, some people are militant antifas that beat up people because they are white conservatives, it doesn't mean that all of the left are racist towards whites.

Like I said above, there are bad people that we will never get rid of. Some are racist, some are rapist, some molest, some attack conservatives when they try to speak at college campuses. It doesn't mean that there is a pandemic or epidemic. Or that we are a molesting, racist, raping society, that hates free speech when conservatives speak. And frankly, if these are all actual pandemics then I'm starting with solving the molester and rapist problem before I get to the 48 unarmed people (of all races) killed by cops each year. Because one is more likely to be killed in America by lightning than a police officer!!
"The dispute started last Friday when Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry confirmed he didn't want to make the traditional White House visit to celebrate the Dubs' 2017 NBA championship."

"Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said he received racist voicemails after Cavs superstar LeBron James called President Donald Trump a "bum" on social media.

On Friday, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com passed along comments Gilbert made about the situation during an appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box.

"I received voicemails after LeBron tweeted that were some of the most vile, disgusting, racist [messages]," he said. "There's an element of racism that I didn't even realize existed in this country this much."

Dan Gilbert has my respect.

If someone brings up a valid issue, you don't point to other issues and say these are more important. You are smarter than that now. I enjoy and read your posts. There are plenty of issues you can tackle with different branches and divisions in America and I do agree with you though.

Instead of seizing property or robbing citizens or killing unarmed men why not concentrate on the rapist, molesters...???? I agree with you on that 110%

Thats attempting to change the narrative..

"Well, maybe from where she's standing it's a good news story. When you're drinking from a creek, it's not a good news story. When you don't have food for a baby, it's not a good news story. When you have to pull people down from their buildings, because — I'm sorry, but that really upsets me and frustrates me.

I would ask her to come down here and visit the towns and then make a statement like that, which frankly, it is an irresponsible statement. And it contrasts with the statements of support that I have been getting since yesterday when I got that call from the White House.

This is, dammit, this is not a good news story. This is a 'people are dying' story. This is a 'life or death' story. This is 'there's a truckload of stuff that cannot be taken to people' story. This is a story of a devastation that continues to worsen."

Politicians hate poor people, especially minorities who can't defend themselves in the court of law.

It's a damn shame Puerto Rico is our territory and we b******t. A general already is criticizing the help.. Finally temporarily suspending the jones act after pressure from the media.

We as Americans love vacationing there but when they need help?? We s**t on them... This is what happens too often.. Remember Katrina?

Our president is more worried about his friends ships going there to make money than actully helping..

But everything is fine there thats what we tell ourselves so we feel better about our negligence.

The writing is in the wall..

Police Department's new PR slogan: We kill fewer Americans than lightning!
I'm not trying to change the narrative, I'm trying to make the point that the issue at hand is not a correctable issue because we will never be rid of all evil. And bad, unfortunate things happen all the time that doesn't involve bad intentions. And frankly, in a country of 300 million plus people, if we were a racist society with racist police I would expect that a lot more than 17 unarmed black men would be killed in a year.

Why can't it possibly be that there were 17 unrelated, unfortunate and individually unique incidents that lead to the death of a black man. Because, I don't think anyone questions or cares whether the 31 unarmed white men killed in the same time frame was anything other than just that, unrelated unique incidents. The numbers are so small that it doesn't point to anything else.

"According to the most recent census data, there are nearly 160 million more white people in America than there are black people. White people make up roughly 62 percent of the U.S. population but only about 49 percent of those who are killed by police officers. African Americans, however, account for 24 percent of those fatally shot and killed by the police despite being just 13 percent of the U.S. population. As The Post noted in a new analysis published last week, that means black Americans are 2.5 times as likely as white Americans to be shot and killed by police officers."

Were these the numbers you were referring to? I do agree we can't solve the worlds problems but we can start in house and work outward.

It would be a good slogan right?! But they would be immediately call lying spin doctors, because nobody would believe that the racist cops actually killed that small a number of people.
"Handcuffed teenagers beaten bloody with guns. Unarmed people shot and killed in their cars. Cops firing guns carelessly into busy streets. Mentally ill people tasered in ambulances. Supervisors refusing to challenge a brutal status quo.

These examples didn't come from the New York City Police Department or Ferguson, Missouri, where the killing of unarmed black men by white cops has created a national outcry over institutional racism and excessive force. They were from Ohio, where the U.S. Department of Justice just finished an investigation and report on abusive and often unconstitutional policing by Cleveland Division of Police between 2010 and 2013. They were compiled before November 22, when a rookie officer shot and killed a 12-year-old African-American boy, Tamir Rice, for waving a toy gun around on a playground."

So we are saying this is not correctable because we can't solve all the problems? Interesting.

Don't be fooled by the 13% population sir. 2-1.

Do not be fooled by the 13% please... Thank you, more narrative changing than addressing the problem..

The numbers are from the Washington Post article I posted earlier. It has all the data and it can be filtered by race and whether armed or not among others. Obviously we are not talking about armed killings because that would be absurd to think the police can't shoot an armed suspect, and I would hope no one is interested in defending armed suspects.

So we are saying this is not correctable because we can't solve all the problems? Interesting.

Never said everyone or anyone is perfect, and yes this needs to be corrected. But it also isn't an immediate indictment of all police across the nation as Kaep would have one believe.

This problem is every where no matter how much you try to deny it no matter how low or high the numbers are.. There is a problem.

"The anthropologist Didier Fassin has revealed the gulf between the police and citizens of poor neighbourhoods: 80% of police officers are from rural areas or provincial towns, where the socio-ethnic makeup is radically different"

"It feels as if French society is suddenly discovering the banal cruelty of police brutality, although such allegations come as no surprise to those who live in the country's poorer neighbourhoods. From Rodney King to Michael Brown, victims of racism by American police appear regularly in French media. But similar events in France are not given much coverage – and when they are, the racial aspect isn't mentioned. Social networks, however, are challenging this. Hashtag activism has proclaimed what the media has struggled to make obvious: Traoré and Luhaka are black."

I've been steadily saying minorities and poor.. Look what a study can bring.

Did you read the article where a college in nj did a study on targeting minorities??

Facts

Again, as I believe LeProf has said, roughly 50% of the population is female. But males are shot by police an order of magnitude more than women. Does that mean police are sexist? Or that they encounter a higher number of violent men than women? Don't let the 13% fool you either.
