KNBR was just interviewing some reporter guy from NE and people are surprised about this deal. He went on to say that no one knows what happened behind closed doors but its possible BB was backed into a corner by Kraft to make the trade being that they passed on the 2 1st rounders that Cleveland, I believe, was offering during the draft.

Chris Mortensen alluded to that, that the Patriots have such a great relationship with Garoppolo's agent(Don Yee), that they didn't want to sour it by sending him somewhere...less desirable. How s**tty does Cleveland have to be viewed to be that much less desirable than another 0-8 team?
It doesn't hurt that they ship him to an NFC team.
But let's not kid ourselves. The Patriots aren't turning down a 1st round pick simply to do somebody a favor. This is a business. The reports are that the Browns offered a 1st in the offseason, but not at the trade deadline. So, getting a 1st from Cleveland right now was not an option for the Patriots.
Sounds like to me they either thought they could strong arm the Pats or the front office just doesn't think too much of Garopollo. which makes sense cause they loved Johnny Football over Derek Carr and Garopollo. So they should pretty much all lose their job.

Rodgers looks like he has thicker joints or forearms. Jimmy G looks a little more petite.

If a tackle like McGlinchey is seen as good enough, then they very well could be a viable option. Its not like Staley has a lot of time left.
This...and he is able to play G in the meantime until Staley moves on

How about moving Staley to guard? It will probably extend his career.

Whoaa. Why many of 49ers fans are happy to get for J.Garoppolo and New England Patriots fans are happy to get for 2nd round in 2018.
I accepted for J.Garoppolo because I am support the 49ers fans and cheer. I am telling you. I am too concerned about if Garoppolo will get hurt again his shoulder? ... And Plus he will be free agent in next year. Come on? We should wait and sign him if he will be free agent in next year. Duh.
It's not like the Niners, one of the worst teams in football right now, are competitive in FA if it comes down to perspectives.

RT would be the logical choice.
