And same, or even more applies to JG. I don't care where TF they get OLs, but starting on our DL, AA, Buck, Solly....are all candidates. Even DJ or Mitchell. Don't care what happens on DL now. Gotta protect JG (and CJ) or we are going to end their careers early because of no protection behind our invisible OL. So any guy who shows up here for OL audtition... fine by me. But for heaven's sakes, get anybody BUT Fusco, kilgore and beadles. By rights they should not be on this team..

You've got to play someone at QB.

Was surprised we signed a QB when we needed and OG and C.
Does not make any sense to me. First of all, it's not like you just get a player you want as if you were in Madden. Secondly, FQB is our most pressing need by far.

That aside, Cuzins was good enough to run the team but i sure didn't see him leading this team to a SB. And the price tag for the quality was just not a good deal $25-30 mil per ...and which he will get. Fortunately we won't be the ones paying him. At best a good Qb but not FR Qb. My opinion only.
This. I would be ok with him but would not be hyped.

The killer tho...Jimmy G coming here does not make our non existent OL one lick better. So i am uneasy putting a potential FR QB behind that horrible, ugly, nasty, invisible OL. He could get injured easily on any play....because we always have DLs gettign free shots at our qBs.
So we should have passed on Jimmy G? You can everything out of draft, even on day 2 but a FQB.

Meh, every team is going to look bad if you look at the players they've missed out on that they could have had. We missed out on Watson, a better QB than JG. It's the accumulation of repeated bad mistakes that makes a franchise bad, not one in isolation.

A bit early for this declaration IMO.

Watson has looked good, Jimmy G looked pretty good in his two starts but a lot can change. We thought Kap was the guy for a solid year and a half, for goodness' sake.

Most QBs play behind bad lines at some time during their careers and it seldom ruins careers. Not the best idea but until next year there is not much the niners can do. Even Jim Plunkett, almost killed in NE for his first few years, became a SB winning QB with the Raiders. Shanahan can help protect JG through play calling and JG has a much quicker release--both physically and mentally--so he will be less at risk than Beathard.

Rattay had similar stats to JG in his first 2 starts and we all know how that turned out. I think JG will turn out to be our QB of the future, but things like that make me wonder. How this turns out will depend a lot on if we can figure out how to protect him, I imagine.

lol not surprised...I'm sure they talked to Jimmy on the phone and asked him what number he wanted for the jersey photo op...next call was to Bourne telling him he lost his number.
Very low risk and high reward with nearly $0 future to commit.

  1. We use a 2nd rounder for the most ready possible franchise QB in college and the pro's.
  2. We get a handful of games to see if he is worth it.
  3. We have no future $$ invested in him if he is not worth it.
  4. If he is worth it, we lock him up.

84 looks better on him anyways.

What a diva
Kendrick Bourne is just lucky that the 49ers didn't resolve whatever the clerical error is that has allowed him to remain on the roster this whole season.

That was quick. Jimmy Garappolo will keep his No. 10 as he joins the #49ers.
