Not sure exactly what NC was thinking ,but i would say the same except add the phrase..."wouldn't play him this season UNLESS HE COULD BE PROTECTED BY THE OL"...and if that part of the deal is not met, i would never sign off on it. Now if Joe comes back, Trenton comes back, D.Williams is promoted as an OG (and blocks well), our Long snapper is promoted to Center (and he blocks well), and then 'Laken starts blocking better...or Magnus is put at C (but again he has to block well)....if we can meet all those criteria then sure i wold start him. Chances for all that to work though is really slim, so our OL won't be ready to take care of our FR QB. Ergo, don't play him. He can learn 20 plays fast enough, but he can't get protected that easily. As long as fusco, beadles and kilgore stay on the bench...or better yet at home... then no, i wouldn't start jmmmy g. All that would do would be to encourage a bunch of bad habits to keep from getting kilt. And no point in that. Breeze thru the season with a slick unvarnished recorded...perfect record. Zero wins. Hey i'm all for playing to win. But putting a really great talent out there with no protection...unh unh. No way.
We just got incredibly lucky landing Jimmy G. Now let's not throw this good luck away by putting him behind a bunch of division 3 OL clodhoppers. IF lynch can put 5 guys out there that can protect, then hell yeah. Play the kid. He wants to play. But if he can't....let's not kill the golden goose before he has a chance to lay us some golden eggs. That's all. Simple.

Garoppolo drafted in the second round anyway, on top of that he's got a few years of NFL experience in a winning culture learning off Brady. He showed in his limited game time on the field that he's got the ability. It's not like the Niners have drafted extremely well in the last few drafts anyway, at least this guy is a somewhat known quantity. This is a great move imo, fairly low risk.

Your last statement makes 0 sense. So if that's the case how is anybody ever worth of top 5 pick especially a quarterback?Originally posted by Rocket4989:http://www.barkinghard.com/forums/showthread.php?234403-Jimmy-G-is-a-49er&s=20eaee9c83c58c123b324ecd8d00a8c4
didn't want Jimmy G anyway. I don't think we would be any better with him and is still a prospect. The 49'ers might be worse than us. Good fcking luck.
Cousins would be a different deal for me. He's a legit top ten QB and he see's the whole field. I would give a #1 pick for Cousins today
Halfway through the season already, so by the time Jimmy G shows some potential with his new team, the team has to decide on a long term contract that could bite them in the ass.
No thanks at this point in the season.
Maybe back in March, but not in late October.

Garropolo is not, is not worth a 2nd. He hasn't proven a thing. Besides, who's he gonna throw to?

Kinda funny that 2 Italian QBs we've had, Garoppolo & Carmazzi, both have ties to the GOAT (Brady).

From that same thread. Poor guy letting his pain pour out.
"The Browns are getting absolutely obliterated in sports media both locally and nationally right now and rightly so. I am so sick of crap like this. It isn't even about whether or not any of us think Jimmy G is good. The coaching staff wanted him (and that hasn't been any secret dating back to the offseason) and the front office dropped the ball worse than Kenny Britt on a Sunday! It's getting REALLY hard to support this dumpster fire team. Son of a b***h I'm so mad."

I don't think I can ever hate on a browns fan. They can say whatever they want to us, I just can't bring myself to say s**t back. They're a forever cursed franchise.

This is why you can't go into next offseason thinking only about the sexy fa signing or the prize rookie. Most important thing at this moment now is protecting our franchise QB and then surrounding him with the skill players that we lack. Oline, oline and not just starters but some quality depth.
