I work in a brewery that sees many tourist and my new favorite thing to do when I meet a Patriots fan is to thank them for Jimmy G, and then I step back and watch them explode into a state panic and frustration and anger.

So fun
Just want to remind everyone that we were undefeated under JG in 2017 and that right now, as of today, we are again undefeated and tied for first in the League in 2018. Coincidence? I think not.

Great throw under pressure...Hyde drops the ball on this play

Does anyone have the gif of this play they can post? Need it for something

Exact argument I'm trying to enforce with that gif.

The reason Hyde missed this one is because he didn't adjust well to the long ball, not exactly a skill that RBs often practice - adjusting to a deep ball. I don't think I saw any plays where Jet caught a deep pass. Plenty of times Jet caught short passes and got lots of RAC though. That would be the biggest difference between Hyde and Jet as pass catchers imo. Hyde isn't as elusive in the open field.

David Johnson is the only RB I can think of in the NFL that I've seen regularly catch passes deep down the field. I think there is a major difference between a RB being a good receiver for a RB and being able to track a football 30+ yards down the field regularly.

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/player/41745/Carlos-Hyde

For 2016, 98% of McKinnon's receptions were short.

For 2016, 85% of Hyde's receptions were short.

Hyde surprisingly had the advantage in catch percentage from 2014-2016.

2014-75%
2015-73%
2016-83%

to

2014-66%
2015-72%
2016-81%

It is nice that McKinnon's numbers have been progressively improving as a receiver.

McKinnon averaged 6.3 YAC to Hyde's 5.4 YAC.

^^ Wish they also charted 2017 depth of target for each RB. I think catch rate is QB dependent so a poor throw by the QB could hurt the RB's catch rate. Really small sample size for Hyde in 14-15. Jimmy's elite short balls should help Jet's catch rate. Kyle sent Tevin Coleman intermediate/deep a number of times. It will be interesting to see how often Jet is used in the intermediate/deep range.

He also saw increased performancfrom qb's over that stretch. I think that plays a factor as well.

It's a tough ball for any RB to catch...my pt with that clip was JG CAN throw a deep ball. That s**t was in his hands regardless of who was trying to catch it and on top of it he had a unblocked Clowney crashing down on him in the process

He does need to work on footwork and turning his hips on the deep ball, we will have to see if he's progressed with that

It's not a super easy catch(though don't tell that to the people making fun of Tom Brady for the SB missed catch) but Hyde slowed up on the route. Certainly makes it tougher to catch that way.

McKinnon imo makes that grab. Dude is all effort. I loved Hyde but with Jimmy in at QB imo Breida outplayed him. Hard to pay big money for a guy who looked worse than an UDFA rook.

the first scoring opportunity against the Texans is perfectly captured in this video. Hyde was great in this game other than the dropped touchdown.
