It's a win-win situation for them. Jimmy was a solid backup and they give him away for half a season, while upgrading to the 34th pick in he draft.

I don't understand some of these reactions.

All season:
"We suck, we never make good trades" "They didn't even try to improve the team with all of that cap space" "Lynch is in over his head" "Try something., sign someone"
Makes a major trade:
"We suck at trades" "He's not worth the cap space" "What a stupid move" "Lynch is in over his head"

Makes it no matter what mean we won't draft a QB high (which I like). We need to go heavy O-Line and CB in the draft if we don't make any significant upgrades in the draft. Doesn't matter if we've got Tom Brady with our disaster of an offensive line.

Definitely don't need to draft a QB in 1st. That in itself is huge. Unless Garoppolo completely bombs (doubt it).

We also need playmakers just as bad as the OL. Niners need to go all out in FA if Garoppolo looks good in 2nd half of the season. Gotta surround him with talent asap.

Brady's backups haven't been successfull after leaving the patriots hopefully this changes...
