I won't say they were completely meaningless, well maybe to the team. But, Jimmy G. was in a contract year, he had to show he was capable of being a starter in the NFL in order to get a reasonable contract.

But I think this upcoming season will be a low expectation season from the coaches IMO. I know us fans will expect the world from Jimmy G. and rightfully so, but I think the coaches are gonna take it easy with him, coming off that ACL. I think if he gets the team to the playoffs then fine, if not it will turn into a re-evaluate year.

Just have to continue to build the offense around Jimmy G so he won't have to run.

we are an 8 win team with a healthy jimmy in my opinion. which is fine since we have had only a few winning seasons in the last 20 years and none in the last 6

So he just needs to put up #s to justify being the 16th highest paid QB in the NFL and if he doesn't they can get out of the contract with little to no hit.
