Mullen is start games? Lol. He is playing well game. He is a great for backup, period! If Garoppolo will be injured again then we can put to Mullen can start games. Just easy use Brian as smart plans games.

THats just offseason noise. I mean Mullen is ok. He is very limited, and isnt great in the intermediate game. Jimmy has more upside, and has looked better overall when he has played. If Mullen plays it because we are struggling, not sure why you would desire that.

Look, I am a unashamed Mullen fanboy, and I stand by my statement. I am not hating on GQ, but I just more from Mullen, quite that if we would to release Mullen, he will be snatched up in seconds.

I agree. I think he'll be picked off if we put him on the practice squad. I think he's that good, and I think he can get better. He may be limited from an arm and mobility standpoint, but that's not stopped guys like Brady and Montana, if they have a good coach that can build a team around them.
I'm also pulling for the Michigan product in Wilton. I'm hoping he's Mullen's 2.0.

of course i hope you are right. i have high hopes for our new three wide outs, and honestly for reasons known only to cciowa.. i have more hope and faith in our new running back we signed as compared to the jet. i think our new guy will be special and whatever we get from jet is gravy. despite what some think, i do not wish for our ol to fail.. just a ongoing concern of mine. do you think jimmy needs just a bit of work in a pre season game. i know some say. he should set out pre season cuz he could get hurt. rushing him back etc... i am of the opinion he needs some work so he is not shaking off the rust on the road vs a fire up bucs team
All the QB's need work, specially the starter in Jimmy. He needs as much or more reps than the backups, that's for sure.
Having said that, I do want to see Wilton play in the fourth quarter with the future bartenders and stock clerks of the NFL. I know Mullens needs work and reps, but since I'm not priviy to all the practice reps that Kyle see's with all his QB's, I have a selfish interest in seeing how Wilton plays in the pre-season games.

We all know what jimmyG is capable of. Our of nowhere (Miss State?) Mullie. Did he really look THAT good last yr with NO OL, no pass pro, getting beat upside the head, play after play? The kid is terrific.. Give him even a decent OL, and i bet he is something. Put him behind a good OL and we might really get surprised.
It seems incredible, we turn over 43 of 45 guys from 3 yrs ago, and we don't ahve all starters on our OL, and we got sherm in the DBAckfield. We got no backups nor starters in DBs (except sherm) and just McG and Joe S on OL...with no reliable backups either. How in the world did we get not just a fR QB AND a quality QB in case #1 is injured...before we had DBs and and OL? We got not just the hardest slot to fill, we got a superb backup. That is just flat out incredible.
Sure would be nice if Trader John picks up a cap cut/trade DB and OL to go along with his other cap/cut trade TE Toilolo. That was an A+ pickup, and in the BB mode all the way. Bellichek has been doing that for yrs. Now we are finally. Just hope John can get us one of each, "rentals", and then see if they are the real deal or not. IF not, we just rent them. If they want the big $$ and LT contract, we can decide that at the time. If they pull a Trent Brown $17 mil per deal, adios. Can't lose deal on this type pickup. Cheap, rent for a yr and then decide. If too many $$ , g'bye.

Yeah this makes total sense, give a promising young QB with years of experience behind arguably the greatest QB of all time, a $132 million contract to hide your real plan of crowning a back up QB that no one heard of a year ago. Yeah, that seems like rational thinking

Agree Doc, that was brilliant of Bellicheat. Prime example is Trent Brown. That one year rental enabled them to do pretty good in the super bowl, but they already know what Kyle knows about Trent Brown - and that's why I think Trent Brown is going to crash and burn with the Raiders because he's gotten his money and he can pretty much coast for a couple of years because his dead cap money prevents the Raiders from cutting him.
