I watched half of the Cohn breakdown. Trying to look at knee bend from the all22 makes my eyes hurt. He has a point when Jimmy rushes his mechanics without needing to. That's as far as I got because 35 minute video, I ain't got time fo dat.

Yeah, I had a hard time stomaching him saying, "his front leg is stiff" when he's looking at all-22 and even with that you can still see Jimmy's leg bent.....

Bump to the top.
He's such a hack.... Oh my gosh, I had to stop watching. It was so bad it's not even funny. Everything I see or hear from this guy is, just enough knowledge to think he knows what he's talking about and not near enough to be informative or have any quality content.
He totally lost me on the deep post to Pettis. I've watched that play a bunch, Pettis never had to slow down out of a full run - you can't tell from slo-motion and Cohn knows it, but if Jimmy throws that ball where Grant says he should it'd be a 5 yard overthrow. The corner made a great play.
He also takes 4 minutes tearing down Jimmy on a play where there was defensive PI...... for real. There was a miscommunication between jimmy and GK, he was expecting Kittle to stack the corner, he didn't, but the corner got flagged for PI and it was a 20 yard gain. Yet, he says, "he gets money is his account then Jimmy goes out and puts this on film" and tries to talk about how it was something about Scangarello.
He really didn't start out well when he said, "in 2017 they pretty much just ran all Patriots passing plays". While they did run things that NE does, it wasn't like it was new stuff to our playbook. The Patriots offense these days is very much an amalgamation of mostly WCO concepts. It was stuff out of our playbook. He ran the PIN concept great about 7 or 8 times in 2017. The PIN is what Goodwin scored his 87 yard TD from Beathard throwing him the ball and is one of the plays that Grant talks about Jimmy, "does an excellent job on this play here". LOL......
get him jonnydel ..... you give more in two minutes of your cutups than this hack gave in 48 minutes.... like I said ... the guy just wants clicks and we should all just say no. !!!!!!

Curious what your trying to get across in your posts?
That Mullen's is better then jimmy?
You'd rather have Mullen's starting over jimmy?
I just don't want to assume so I'm asking because as much as I like Mullen's, and I think Mullen's can progress even more, jimmy has shown more to me and I feel he is better at this point in time then Mullen's and I feel jimmy has a lot of room to improve which would be scary.
I know we are way past the five 2017 games that jimmy played but I've just watched them again and it's pretty amazing how he was processing the defenses during that stretch. He was directing where the receiver/TE should be on there route telling how the DB will react during some sideline video/audio.
If Jimmy is healthy and can replicate the same standard of performance, we are a playoff contender. He very well may be better, considering the time off, knowledge of the offense, and generally better players around him.
I concur with an earlier comment that this year is a make or break for him. He needs to show he can do it, and the opportunity ahead of him is ideal for it.
I don't think this is a make or break year for Jimmy. When he struggles with game to game consistency, I'm not closing the book on him or label him as an inconsistent QB. He's very young in QB experience. He's going to, not might, but going to struggle from time to time as he plays in different game situations, against different DCs. After 10 official starts, two of which he didn't finish, he still has a lot to learn and the only way he'll learn is to actually play and not watch film with Mike Shanahan from the all22 view. I myself can read defenses from the all22 and know where to throw the ball. It's so much easier that way than facing live bullets from behind the offensive line.
Agreed, but if it's a regression-type year, and we end up with a top pick again, and a QB is available, it could be interesting.
Now, I expect him to play at or slightly better than he has already shown. Obviously he'll have up and down games, drives, throws, etc., but he's already passed the eye test for me.
how about, bad year or not, can he at least play 1 full season first before we truly judge him? He plays bad this year, full season, then the year after will really be telling. and vice-versa..

Here are some clips of Jimmy Garoppolo dropping back and throwing during warmups. He's wearing a brace on his left knee. #49ers pic.twitter.com/JjNvtzNk94

Troy Aikman lol?
Aikman never looked as crisp as Jimmy does and his completion % wasn't that great going off memory.

I think Jimmy will be fine. The most important thing I heard today was he's on target to be 100% in training camp. He looked good on those 7 on 7 drills. He's had no injury setbacks like Mostert and Gronkowski. Other than that, there's no getting around the fact that it takes time to recover from a season ending injury.Originally posted by BleedsRedNGold:Grant is like everyone else trying to extrapolate Jimmy's strengths and weaknesses based on three games last season and ignoring 2017 and his 3 Patriots starts. As for the future, only if Jimmy stinks it up in 2019 will the 49ers put draft capital in any sort of QB draft pick in 2020. I'm betting Wilton will make the PSquad, Mullens will be #2 QB and we'll have an extra 6th or 7th rounder after BeatHard is traded.
The way Mullens looked in the Denver win - I think Jimmy's going to look like that after a couple of games, and knocking off some of the rust. It's a much more talented offense than in 2018, so I highly doubt Jimmy is going to regress.

The 2019 Kyle Shanahan offense looks a lot like the Rams 2000 offense. Much more vertical and a lot of speed everywhere. So I can see the Bulger/Warner comparisons - specially if the offense is faster because of the quick release of Jimmy.

"Patriot Plays".
this is a mesh concepts....about as WCO as it gets.
PIN/Yankee this only happens to be Kyle's favorite concept
Stick concept...here yet another one of the core WCO concepts
boy lookie here...how many WCO concepts can we pile into one play. Hook-flat....check, Slant-flat....check, Double slant.....check
here's another one....lotta WCO goodness here
and again....
These were highlighted in the lead up to the Atlanta-NE Super Bowl as NE got to plays. Of like there top 9-10 pass plays 6 are tried and true WCO concepts.
