we need to see him in a entire season and how he does for us before we can rush to those still claims he is top 3 or 4 in the nfl. i am sure you will get ripped on the mahomes thing. but based upon the body of work for mahomes and jimmy. yes. jimmy is not on that level

Mahomes could regress back to a middle-of-the-pack type, but at least he has an outstanding season under his belt, so he's in the opposite position as Jimmy. He'd have to show regression where Jimmy would have to show consistency.

Jimmy will have some rust in the beginning, but if our OLine can improve and protect him, I think he'll be fine this year. I don't predict the super bowl, but I'll let Mr. Miller do that.

I think it will take half a year for the offense to gell simply because the of Jimmy's inactivity last year due to the injury, and the continued gelling of the OLine in the ZBS system, and finally the new rookies and 2nd years still developing. I would shorten it to a couple of weeks, if everybody on the offense had been playing in the same offense for 4+ years, but really it's just the 3rd year for Kyle's offense.

I Figure the half year thing would just be right cuz that is when ross reynolds will step in and take a starting guard job. for all those reasons plus.. in my opinion. the team needs to show they can win on the road and be ready on the road. i would not be shocked if we got whupped on opening day
I've been thinking about that 1st game cc and i will be disappointed if Kyle doesnt' have the guys ready for it. I think he will. I really think he gets the importance of those first 4 games. 3 out of 4 would be one helluva way to start the yr. But JG has to have a lot of rust also. It will be a close call. I think we win.

If we could ull that off, that would be a JATO...

I think everything will be ok. I expect the defense and RBs to pick up the slack early on to the point that Jimmy can lean on them to win games.

At some point I hope to see Jimmy dominating on his own.

What I see with Jimmy, and what I would hope other Niner fans see as well is the *potential* of a truly top QB. As I've said before, I don't think we've seen an 8 game sample size at QB that looked this good when normalized for the players and team (not from Smith and Kap was leveraging lots of great talent). Montana and Young are excluded of course....

With Jimmy I see a QB who will NEVER have a floor as low as Kap has had.......who will NEVER go into a big game as conservative as Smith.........two attributes of QBs we have seen a multitude of times fail on the big stage.....

You Jimmy haters are failing to see one thing - the Harbaugh "dynasty" falling short was because we didn't have the signal callers to get it done. With Jimmy, I'm willing to bet that what got him the huge contract is still very much there, and I'd throw in the Jimmy we have now on any of those Harbaugh teams in a nanosecond.

For the 49ers to win a Super Bowl in the next 5-10 years, it's all gonna bank on Jimmy G being as good as we hoped. Not Cousins, certainly not Mullens.......

All this anti-Jimmy talk is giving up.

He's by and large the most important person in this organization, even more than Kyle at this point, and Kyle is certainly the most important guy not named Jimmy Garoppolo. If Jimmy is merely as good as Cousins, that won't be enough. He has to be superior and by a good amount....

Whereas with Smith I was in denial late 2011 and 2012.........with Jimmy I'm nothing but a true believer. How the hell could Colin Cowherd predict the 49ers going to the NFC Championship game last year if Jimmy didn't have that baller aura?

This is easily the most important QB season for a 49er since Smith in 2012 or Kap in 2015, perhaps even more so............f**k, this might be even more intense than Steve Young in 1994 trying to get over the Cowboys.

And it's f**king insane because the guy got hurt and couldn't live up to his promise.

Lastly, all this pisses me off because Seahawk fans will defend the ever living s*** out of Wilson, when often it's other factors that win games for them. Yeah yeah he won a SB with them..........but FFS show some support for a QB that at his best looks a lot better than Wilson!!

a chiefs team that our so called defense could not stop and a chiefs offense that let up off the gas. to bad reality is not built on ifs and buts and almosts. no matter whose fault it is that he got hurt..... our offensive line is still totally suspect in regards to pass protection

Lol yeah, we all know as soon as the score went to 24-35 the the chiefs started to play defense again lololol

The Chiefs' offense never let off the gas all year, not even against us. Our defense started to solidify after getting absolutely torched the first half. Didn't the Chiefs score TDs on us in like 5 straight possessions or something?

However, I don't think Jimmy was leading us back to win that game before his injury. It was mid to late 4th quarter and if I recall correctly, we were still down two scores. He was driving the ball and making it exciting, but 9 times out of 10, we were still losing that game even if Jimmy didn't go down.

Actually, I think I'm gonna go back and rewatch the highlights on that game now...
Make no mistake, Kyle is GOD, and Jimmy is son of GOD, Bosa is the holy Mary. Our new trinity is all conquering, Lambs must be truly scared by now.

Well if Bosa is as good as he looks in a real game as he looks on paper, and causes one or two turnovers a game (on average ) I can see us having a 70% win/loss percentage.

Here's where a good defense prevents that ACL injury to Jimmy. If in the 4th QTR we had a 5+ point lead, more likely than not, Jimmy is handing off to the RB instead of trying to get a first down by scrambling outside the pocket.

Yea, even if Jimmy doesn't get hurt, we still lose that game. If we had scored a TD on the drive where Jimmy got hurt, it still would have been a 1 score game and we never got the ball back after that drive.

Yes we did. We had to settle for a fg instead of a TD (though beat did a TD and got a bogus opi call)
