That being said, we are winning the Super Bowl and I'm not that concerned.
Have to be smart in evaluations. People assume ACL injuries for QBs are no biggie because they don't move around as much but look at Brady after his ACL injury, it wasn't pretty.
The big thing I want to see from Jimmy this year is being better within the offense, seeing the field better and being more careful with the ball. I'm confident Jimmy will be fine long term. He showed enough glimpses of being a great team leader and QB in 2017 and I think that's why we gave him that contract.

I'll take 4,400 yards 28 TDs 13 INTs and 66 comp% with a pro-bowl all day They went 10-6 that yr. I believe JG is 5 yrs younger than Brady when it happened as well?

True :) I remember him not looking great that year but when I posted i went to check the stats and was surprised it was that good. I guess maybe because the season before he got hurt he set all sorts of records that the 28/13 line with 4400 yards looked crappy in comparison.

In other words, a good defense and a strong run game will do as much, or more, for Jimmy than having all first round picks on that OLine.
you can't do anything to prevent an injury like he had last year.
he needs to be smarter in avoiding big hits though.
LOL
That was a big hit to you?
No but he took a ton of hits behind a line that sucked ass at pass protection. Juice didn't add much either.
The hits will get him eventually unless the team decides to try to improve PP which had gotten worse since Lynch got here.

Totally agree PP needs to improve...not sure you remember who was on our OL in 2016?
Joe, Beadles, Kilgore, Tiller, Brown T Brown is the only guy we lost worth a damn. I know people pick and choose when to like PFF (not sure how you stand with it)
2016 season 28th ranked OL
2018 season 15th ranked OL
still got work to do, but I'll take this OL over the one in 2016 all day.

The line has never been the same since the 49ers lost the Pears, Devey combo... Those guys put on a clinic...

thats called denial and deflection. has nothing to do with the fact our team has been very bad in pass protection for years. we have a qb coming off an acl and again the team in the guard spots did tepid steps to fix it. HOPING that some guys will step up. HOPING continuity . lol will make it better. HOPING jimmys so called quick release will make it all better. when jimmy gets hurt, i wonder if you guys will still be saying. but but.. it is still better than the 2016 line. it is still crap in pass protection.

And you didn't read what someone else wrote(and what I was commenting on)...he stated the pass protection has gotten worse since Lynch got here, which imo I disagree.
Continuity and getting healthier does make a OL better hate to burst your doom/gloom bubble. Being able to get the ball out quickly does make PP better.
If you think those OLs from 2015 and 2016 were better than now, then I question what your motive is in here...that's what the topic was about.

continuity means nothing when you still have two guards who are not very good.. call it gloom and doom.. it is fact... our pass protection on this team has been bad going back to 2011 no matter the coach or the qb.. you tend to oversimplify things.. when jimmy is laying in a heap after he gets crushed after he gets the ball out... we will all marvel at how he got that ball out as he gets carted off the field. and do not blather to me that getting hit is part of the game. of course those lines were crap. the point is in regards to pass protection it is still crap.. even when healthy our guards were not good. my motive is to give an opinion that the line with a injured qb coming back is not very good in regards to pass protection. i suppose you are one of those who said no to the question posed after jimmys first year... is the line as bad as we think it is. you got a 80 dollar line protecting a 80 million plus qb. sorry to burst your" anything with a niner label on it is awesome" bubble. but that is asking for trouble.

Had they spent a bunch of draft capital on guards we'd still be hoping. Until you see them perform thats all it is.
Glad to see you are rooting for injury so you can do the I told you so tho.

Nothing wrong with what you're saying but even average guards can look a lot better when healthy and playing together for some extended time. Don't forget Richburg at center. He had a bad year last year too. I'm not saying they will be great this year but I do see where they can improve enough to be adequate.
