You guys are driving me crazy here. This is posted as a Jimmy G thread and all I see on this page is OL and head coach arguments Can we stay on topic please. If you want to talk OL or head coach there are threads for that. Otherwise this forum gets confusing and you have to keep scrolling back and back to find out what the original statements were.

Not surprising since people so often ignore the topic of the thread.

We really need Jimmy G to be on point this year. He's gotta stay healthy and he's gotta play well. We get that from him and the 49ers will be a playoff contender, I am convinced.
As a fan I want to see him solidify his position as the unquestioned franchise QB of the 49ers, and I want to see his deal proven prudent and smart by his play on the field.

Great call OTC!
We had the Russell Wilson to the Giants as something that Colin Cowherd was pushing with a little juice off of nothing more than his wife wanting to be in NYC for entertainment purposes.
Outrageous but at least technically it had some merit to being discussed as it was right before Wilson's self imposed deadline for the contract extension came up.
Jimmy IMO would have to tank at least this coming season and next year to be in any real danger of being shipped out.
But relax, that ain't happening.
As I've said before I want 16 games of Jimmy this season ideally over any other QB goals being met. I just want the guy to play at all costs, and no more need for tanking for anything else. We can draft/FA/trade the remaining pieces going forward.....
If Jimmy gets to do that, I can assure you guys we will NEVER see a s**tbait article like that again.

Jimmy would have to be absolutely horrible to be let go, and if somehow he was, I imagine no one would be upset if we got someone else.

The funny thing is that Kyle himself has said "Jimmy will have bad games".....so from the perspective of the most critical 49er talent evaluator on the planet, Kyle Shanahan, I'm sure he still has a very good impression of Jimmy. I bet he thinks more highly of Jimmy than all but the biggest Jimmy homers, if anyone of those people still exist.

I'd argue given the injuries and talent deficiency on roster these numbers above far exceed what they should and speaks to Kyle's ability as a playcaller.
Kyle = God
That's all there's to it, give the man a 5 year contract extension already.
I'll be for that, once the season is over and we've made the playoffs.

Kyle was simply trying to calm GQ down, and also to protect GQ. Our GQ has savior written all over him but he is also a really sensitive soul, for him to perform at his best, we fans MUST be sensitive in our evaluation of his performance, and Lynch MUST trade Mullens so GQ won't have a competitor looking over his shoulder.
Go Niners.

Um no. You dont trade the backup unless you are in a Montana/Young type situation. And not even Florio is saying that Mullens may take the starting role.

Actually I *do* want GQ looking over his shoulder, so he doesn't get complacent. Montana's years were the best when he was looking over his shoulder at Young.

Considering that he's had lesser talent at Boise State and at Washington and able to compete w/the big boys almost over night tells you what type of coach he is no matter what kind of players he has..
Don't get me wrong because I'm happy with Shanny, our offense is almost complete so there shouldn't be any excuses this year..
it wouldn't be a shock if he did worse as well....I could argue CP played vs lesser competition in the WAC/MAC. He still had better recruiting than most of those teams in those divisions. I don't think he's a horrible coach or anything. He's in a place where he can be competitive and he will have that job forever. IMO he's peaked and good for him.
like I said you'd be on an island with the CP>KS stuff.
