This.
Guys, predicting 10+ wins will only give you anxiety. Anything over 9 is a luxury with this team's recent injury history. Until they prove they can have their first good health season since 2013 (!) one should keep their expectations in check.
Not gonna lie. I'd be much happier if we had a decent OG/C. Imagine having a top 5 oline with my boy jimmy? We gotta upgrade that position soon.

Those are positions that we can draft in the late 20s / early 30s next year

The anxiety part will be true, no doubt.
The thing is, from what we got, assuming reasonable good health, an 8-8, even 9-7 season seems to sell this team short.
Pettis, Deebo, Goodwin, KB, Hurd, Kittle, Jet, Breida, Coleman...

Stay healthy Jimmy. Just stay healthy

i just do not get it. we have a zillion dollar qb coming off major knee surgery but we are arrogant to think we can kick fixing the o line down the road another year.. oh well here is to " hoping" they are healthy and "continuity" will help. f**k continuity. you need a couple nasty guards like conrad dobler who would just bite people. oh well. i am "hoping" reynolds will be that guy
I want Jimmy G to have my babies

The online is fine. Another year of continuity with the same guys reap dividends.

We will agree to disagree.. with major question marks at guard. a center who we have no clue if his issue was injuries or not and staley a year older.. sorry its. not just fine. if you can not execute the basics of your job and pass protect. who cares about continuity.

We really don't know one way or the other how our OLine will play. One reason is when Jimmy went down, we had BeatHard and Mullens operating at center. BeatHard tends to get Beat Hard because he holds the ball too long, and Mullens tends to get sacked because he doesn't have the arm strength to beat man on a cover zero blitz quick enough. In other words, with regards to Mullens, you crowd the LOS in zone, man up on the recievers and let the blitz get to him becuse he can't throw the frozen rope to the manned up WR cutting a 10 yard out. His arm isn't strong enough for that pattern. So he does the safe thing and takes a sack.

So while I do have concerns about the OLine like you do. I think a big part of last years atrocious QB hit numbers is simply the QB's themselves.

And I wasn't insinuating that we have a great or even good O-line, but with a year of continuity and having Jimmy's quick release back, I envision an improvement.

And I think you are right. Some of the draft nerds say next years OLinemen are going to be a great class, or something like that. This years class was defensive linemen and WR's. (I think) and so it really does pay to wait for talent to come to you instead of pressing and drafting for need and getting mediocre talent vs outstanding talent.

You get free agents to plug the holes (richburg) and you draft for stars (McGlinchy) I think that's what MadDog was getting at when he said you have to balance need and best player available philosophies - on top of that, another complicating variable is the offensive scheme itself.

Finally, I think Kyle has been one of the best OC"s the NFL has had in the past decade and you don't get to be that person, if you don't know how to build OLines. Without a good OLine, your OC schemes are going to fall apart. Kyle's been on of the top hand full of OC's for a long time. So that gives me confidence he knows what he's doing on the subeject of OLinemen.
Keep reading throwing some cash on Jimmy G for MVP would be smart, gotta see his odds, I'm assuming something like +3500
