It has nothing to do with trying to keep my anxiety away or my expectations in check. It's my honest assessment of the team as a whole.

Jimmy G would have to play an entire season before the words "good quarterback" could be attached to his name.
At this point Jimmy G has only started 10 games more than me at QB in the NFL in his lifetime.

They arent an elite OL by no means but they can get the job done. We can address it next offseason tbh.
Jimmy G is a lock to win comeback player of the year

It amazes me that the idea that the organization has done nothing to "fix" the offensive line continues to get traction in this forum. Apart from Staley and maybe Garnett, there isn't a single player in that position group who was with the team when Shanahan and Lynch took over. They have completely remade the line from what it was three years ago.
Now I suppose one can argue that all of the moves haven't paid the dividends that people had hoped, talking about you Weston Richburg, and I imagine there are still a lot of butt hurt Trent Brown fans out there, but I simply don't see how one can realistically argue that "nothing has been done" to address this problem especially since they used their number one pick on the position last year and have continued to acquire more lineman this past off season. I'm no great fan of Tomlinson but I think he is an upgrade over the guys we had there before and I still think Garnett might get a chance. When he had an opportunity to play last year in place of Person he did a pretty good job and brings a bit of nastiness to the position that might be lacking.
I know a lot of people use the number of times that the QB's were hit last year as a metric for how well the line is doing, or not doing as the case maybe, but I think that some of that is on the QB's and some of that is on the receivers. I can remember a couple of games last year with Jimmy G. where he was holding the ball and looking, and looking, and looking for one of his receivers to break free before finally having to eat it or get out of the pocket. Hopefully the additions they have made to the receivers and Taylor's return to health will alleviate some of those problems and the line won't be tasked with have to hold up in protection or so long.

the OL can improve, they aren't bad though. i expect them to address it next year through the draft or FA

It depends if the OL helps him out.

I hope so. I'm really hoping he's the guy. I don't want him to end up to be Jimmy Gocrapaload.

I agree that they can improve, like I said I am no particular fan of Tomlinson who seems to be good for at least one driving killing penalty a game, the point is that people keep coming in here saying that nothing has been done to address the issues on the line when, in fact, the team has brought in new players every year to compete for positions and try and make it better.

- NFL Pick 'em
I was certain we were taking an OG with our pick early in rd 2. (Bosa in rd 1 was a no brainer, once AZ took Murray). But when Deebo's name was called i was stunned. Ok, then we get a DB in rd 3 , again picking early. Nope , kyle surprises us with another RB/TE/WR...Hurd.
Licking my wounds the only thing i could fathom was that between Deebo and Hurd, one or the other would be able to get open early...thus he finessed needing an starter OG by getting a pair of WRs who could get open early, negating the need for that starter OG. (After rd 2 there were no starter OGs, and after rd 3 there were no starter DBs).
So the only thing that made sense regarding the massive # of QB hits , not to mention sacks, was that the #2 and #3 picks were gotten to get JimmyG an open target early...right off the bat.
I can only hope that this was kyle's thinking. If not, we are in for yet another season of our QBs getting drubbed on every passing play. Man i hope that isn't the case. Deebo and Hurd can make kyle look like a genius if either of those guys is open right off the bat. But will they be?
Stay tuned.

Not sure how you were stunned with the Deebo pick? That s**t was as good as done after the Senior Bowl.
I'm telling ya kyle doesn't value OG, unless he's some stud OT that can play OG for a yr I just don't see OG ever being a top priority with this FO.

Yeah, the Deebo pick was the easiest pick to predict in the Shanny era thus far. And I agree with NY about Kyle undervaluing OG. It certainly feels that way.

I thought Hurd was easy too. Some of us saw the versatility and route running that KS loves.
I just don't think anyone had him going that early. I was hoping for the 4th round though.

I think he has the supporting cast to win it.

Stats are almost identical after their first 8 games with the niners. I don't think anything can really be read from that, but it is mildly interesting.
