Oh wait....... Tom Brady threw a pick 6 in the playoff game and the Patriots lost......

Nobody said that. The argument is that it's not always the receivers. Both the QB and the receiver are part of the play. Passes will not always be perfectly thrown in which case the receiver makes a great catch or it's incomplete. If it's thrown perfectly (like that 3rd down pass to Bourne) then it's on the receiver. He owned the mistake after the game. They don't waste time pointing fingers at each other because they know they are human. Guys drop passes, miss blocks and tackles and QBs miss wide open receivers with overthrows. It happens every week in every game.

Only "perfectly thrown" passes that are dropped are "on the receiver?"

K

And like I said, he owned that drop after the game. He said he should have had it and they could have run the clock out after that. If the ball isn't thrown perfectly, doesn't the QB deserve some of the criticism? He's getting paid just like all the rest of the players.

There really isn't an argument here. Everyone knows that all receivers sometimes drop catchable balls and all QBs miss throws. The Niners are no different than any other team.

Russell Wilson's WR's routinely make spectacular adjustments to the ball. Look at DK Metcalf. He was going up high for the ball on some over thrown passes from Wilson. He would leap high into the air and bring down some of the passes with his 6'4" frame. But I can think of a few that were not perfectly thrown balls. It's the WR's job to go get it and adjust. A QB is getting fierce pass rush. Timing is not always perfect. Sometimes you have to get rid of the ball. The WR has to make a play on the ball.

I agree with you. I think it's a WR's job to catch more than just "perfect passes." To me, anything that is within a WR's arm radius is "catchable," and you can easily add a wider radius for jumping and leaning over to catch. I won't go so far as to say "anything that touches the WR's hands," but ask any WR worth a salt and that is their standard.

The wide receivers are taking bigger hits than the QBs especially with the new rules. As far as Metcalf goes, I've seen him drop easy catches just like every receiver.

If you're going to look at it that way, then it's just as much the responsibility of the QB to make every throw, no matter how much pressure he's under. Anyway, I'm done with this since it's a silly argument. Every guy is expected to do his job but they don't always do it perfectly. It's real football, not Madden. People make great plays and they F up just like all of us.

yeah, pretty glad he had a knee brace, that would have been it for us if … i'm not even going to mention it, don't want even a hint of a jinx on this issue, we have enough problems getting by Aaron and the cheese heads.
Int's always go against the QB on the stat sheet and never against the wr, even when the wr didn't run the correct route or get enough depth on the route. So when a ball is dropped, the wr should always take the blame for it. Because fair is fair.

It must have been easy to get the girls for him.

I have been told I look like him. Yes, its easy. But now I'm married and its even easier if I wanted but I avoid doing so like the plague.

I've been told I look like his not as attractive older brother... I'll take it.
I would love nothing more than for Jimmy to have a Steve Young 94 like post season.

Beat down in Divisional round where Steve didn't have to do much
Nice win in the NFC Championship game where Steve didn't do that much but made enough big plays
Then drops 6 TDs and MVP God Mode in the Super Bowl!

Niners beat the Chargers during that season 38-15. We all know what happened in the SB.

Niners 37-8 vs Packs earlier this year. Hmmm.....

Does anyone have a clip of all of Jimmys INTs from the regular season? I'm curious to see how many of them are tipped balls

Hes had at least 3 bounce off his WR. Plus theres the times the WR didn't run the correct route. I know the pick 6 early last year was Kendrick Bourne's fault for falling down. Ive said for years that they should track WR INT's and put those on the WR's stat sheet. Baseball tracks unearned runs and wild pitches vs passed balls, so football should do a better job categorizing blame. They already have official scorers for determining the sack credits. Just have them tally INT responsibility.

Tom Brady's TD/INT ratio was actually even worse for his first 6 years as a starter. Youd like to be at a 3 to 1 ratio, and Brady was at 2 to 1 or worse from 2001-2006. Jimmy will be fine.

Because you and I could look at the same INT that bounced off a WRs hand and come to a different conclusion. I could say that it was an incredibly inaccurate pass that caused the tip, while you could say that the tip caused the INT. Nearly impossible to definitively assign blame.

doesnt matter. if it hits yours hands, it's catchable, and should be caught. good wr's make those catches. especially if the ball is being thrown behind on purpose to not lead the receiver into a hit. sometimes what looks like an inaccurate pass is actually placement to protect the receiver, as well.
430 yds - 4 TD - 0 Int
