overreacting as usual.

I think it just goes to show you that you shouldnt have wasted so much of your energy on the small handful of posters who were saying Jimmy should be replaced. It was obvious to an overwhelming majority of posters that he wasnt losing his job.

yea, no doubt.

They used they're own 1st gave up a 2018 1st and gave up a 2017 3rd...not sure what's misleading about they

Used 2 1st rd picks and a 3rd which no one in KC cares about lol

My point is the '17 1st rounder was basically an exchange. They got a higher 1st. Is that not correct?

Yea there's definitely a difference between swapping a 1st and giving up a 1st imo

This thread has gone off the rails. Jimmy has one bad game against the Cardinals and all the sudden people are comparing him to Alex Smith and talking about Foles or Trubiski being better than him?! The expectations of 49ers fans are so unrealistic to the point where the fan base wants to dump a franchise qb with the hope of drafting the next Mahomes, which is insane. Look around the league at young quarterbacks. Jackson, Watson, Murray, Dak, Josh Allen, Minshew, Wentz, Cousins, Carr, Darnold, Stafford, and Mayfield has literally done squat in this league. I would not trade Jimmy for any of these guys based on the play I have seen from Jimmy. Goff and Ryan made it to super bowls, and have shown the ability, but Ryan is getting old and Goff is completely reliant on a run game. Even Mahomes played terrible in the super bowl. If it wasn't for an atrocious non call on Bosa on the Hill third down play the Chief's get skunked. People act like Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers have been perfect. These guys collectively have blown so many playoff games. People talk about Rodgers being the greatest talent ever (before Mahomes) and the guy won one super bowl. It took Russel Wilson years to develop into the QB he is today. The grass is very rarely greener when you have a QB who can actually play. Jimmy put up legit franchise numbers in his first full year, leads the league in fourth quarter wins, plays amazing on third down, and takes the team to the SB, but people are like "not good enough." This is crazy to me. Even Greg Cosell, who does a fantastic job evaluating QBs, really likes Jimmy. If we dump Jimmy, he will go to the Bears or Patriots and compete for a SB every year and we will all wish he was back on our team.

Talent wise he's very comparable to Alex Smith, you know the guy that was the #1 draft pick at one point?

It was never meant to be a dis or anything....I didn't realize ya'll would still be so triggered over all of that. With a good OC and solid roster Jimmy and Alex will win you a lot of games. That's NOT a bad thing.

I'm sorry you're being a homer if you wouldn't trade Jimmy for Watson, Dak, wentz, or even Allen at this point. Listen I like Jimmy as much as the next Niner fan but for the love of god let's be objective here.

Did you watch Cosell talk about Jimmy after the SB? Apparently not with that comment you said...Jimmy is a good QB he's gotta dial it up a notch this yr....if not what are you doing letting him play out his contract? Giving him an extension?

Dak with Kyle and our weapons would be f**king amazing. Part of me hope he tests the market.

Prescott gets a free ride in the media. How many post season games has he won? He has a good OL, dominant RB, genuine WR's.

he has underachieved.

So now Prescott has less weapons than Jimmy? GIve me a break. Go watch the handful of games when he didn't have Zeke in 2017 when he was bottom tier awful

Just a smarter fan base, it's ridiculous

Were the fans asking the question or were the beat writers and reporters?

Beat writers and reporters talk to fans all the time, usually ask them questions they would like coaches to answer

The media are the ones who have been referring to Jimmy as the weak link for quite sometime now. Let's stop acting like the fans are to blame.

to most people including myself we had a pretty complete team last year , great defense and running game and best TE and some recievers, if you can fault any part of the reason we lost the superbowl, i mean dude was a turn over machine last year , he had a streak of an int per game for some time and threw one in the superbowl too and overthrew sanders, and lets be honest all he really did was hand the ball off against the vikings and packers. he not someone he gonna take over a game by himself like rodgers or wilson , and we needed an extra something from some area to beat the chiefs and if we really look at it , it was more from the qb play.

Which is why am careful to talk about the metrics, not the subjective eye test. Though it does bare mentioning that he regularly outperforms his mediocre CPOE with insanely high EPA stats on a year per year basis.

"Turnover machine" did he throw some bad picks during games? Sure, but he'd usually get locked in after so

Don't even care to read the rest. Bad take

Sounds like someone bought a couple JG's jerseys...truth is he's got little GTD cash and the team has sniffed around at Brady and not restructured his deal.

This is the yr Jimmy has to bring it up to the next level...

What? Look the media watches games too you know. Jimmy didn't have the best playoff run (whispers started when he never threw the ball) and then on the grandest stage he didn't get it done. FFW to this year fresh off the super bowl performance and he hasn't looked like 2019 regular season Jimmy. Its a fact. If anything the fans are guilty of defending him to a fault. I don't get that take.

That's fair, if we're winning because of things outside of QB play then what? The cap is a real thing with this team and if you can get Mullens to hold down the ship and save $45M, that's something to think about...if you're in a spot where a team is willing to give you some real trade assets for JG, that's something to think about....if we're in love we a QB draft prospect and make a move on him, that's something to think about

End of the day I just want to see Jimmy improve and ball out.

I think they are not restructuring Jimmy's contract basically to help in the Trent Williams signing next year, and possibly to absorb the dead money hit they would have to go through to get rid of Ford. I think they are going to rebuild the 49er secondary and defense with the 2021 draft picks, and need as much cap flexibility as they can to do that. I don't know if they can re-sign Sherman and some of the other DB's - with such a low cap ceiling they have, but if I was faced with that, I'd keep Jimmy's contract untouched for that simple reason.

Jimmy will be fine, he just needs his receivers healthy. He also just needs to get more reps with his offense (OLine, RB's, WR's Te's etc.. ) to get better. The more weapons Jimmy has, the better he'll be and the higher his ceiling becomes. It's a team game, not an individual sport - and one man's ceiling can raise another mans ceiling.
blah blah blah, we don't have a QB controversy.

Ok. But if Mullens lights it up again and Jimmy struggles when he comes back like he has since going back to the end of last year. Yeah, we have a QB controversy.
