I hope you guys are right, but I don't see it. They can rest this guy until Week 12 for all I care. I am tired of the excuses. Just purely from a cap stand point, I don't get what he brings to the table.

Jimmy was a quarter away from being a Superbowl Champion and the most likely Super Bowl MVP... But sure he doesn't give you a chance at this point.

He has fallen apart after our running game and defense became average. And he couldn't pass on a bad defense today. That's just the facts. Now whether or not he has a bum ankle or whatever excuses they can drum up with, that's another story. But as far as I'm concerned, they did say that he looked okay in practice this past week

How do you explain 2017 when he went 5-0 with an average defense and running game?

Lawrence will be gone at 1, Fields will be gone at 2 and if Wilson keeps playing the way he has, he'll be going in the Top 5 as well. Who else you got?

Trey Lance??? I can't see 4 QBS going in the top 5. That rarely happens. It will probably be Lawrence first pick, Fields 2nd pick, Lance 5-6th pick, then Wilson 10-15 range... Maybe we trade up to get Wilson.
Jimmy has regressed, there is no doubt about it. Bum ankle or not.

Lance? Trask? They aren't high on my list, but who knows...

The problem with Trask and I like him as a prospect is that you're basically drafting a bigger, slower version of Jimmy G with a longer delivery. I could see the appeal for Shanahan but I'm not sure you're actually getting better at the position if you replace Garoppolo with him.

Then the 49ers need to trade into the top 5 don't they

What exactly are you giving up to get into the top 5? 2 first round pick? 3?

Wilson isn't going to last beyond the 5th pick if he continues playing the way he has, especially considering his physical tools. He's like a more mobile version of Kirk Cousins.

Lance might fall but Lance is also incredibly raw and has only a single year of starting experience in college. The last guy who fit that description and wound up drafted early was Mitch Trubisky. Lance isn't someone that you throw out here immediately and have him run your offense, he'd ideally need 1 to 2 years to get up to speed. Not sure that is what Shanahan is looking for.

Whatever it takes to get a real quarterback. That isn't my job to decide. If I am the FO, I'm not going to continue to waste the prime of this team on Jimmy. The team needs to figure out how to move forward as quickly as possible.

Some of these teams already have a qb though.

Will Jets move on? Broncos? Chargers? Giants? Texans? Cowboys? Eagles? Lions? That's 5-6 teams easily that may go elsewhere.

Jets are not passing on Lawrence. Just forget about that. They have a new GM that didn't draft Darnold. They'll have a new HC that won't want any part of a reclamation project.

The Jaguars flirted with Minshew but he's clearly not the answer, if they have a shot at Fields or Wilson, they aren't passing on a QB.

New England is a wildcard but Belichick knows that Cam isn't the guy and both Fields and Wilson would fit really well into the offense they run.

Then you have the Cowboys who may just decide to walk from Dak, not pay him $25-35 mil a year and roll with a top rookie prospect.

So now, if the 49ers are looking at a QB in the 1st round, my guess is that QB looks a lot like Kyle Trask or Mac Jones.

Wilson will most likely measure out at 6'1" - 6'2", 210lbs. Will have a best an average arm and plays a weak schedule. He will not be going top 20 in this draft.

QB needy teams that have a shot at a star prospect aren't trading down from that pick.
