Not really. Same thing happened to him as what happened to Kaepernick from the Bears and Patriots games in 2012

They need to IR him and get that ankle settled down. Bring him back later in the year and play him with the expectation that he's play for his job. If not, release him next year or if he plays well, bring him back, but he takes a pay cut to stay on.

I do, especially looking at some of his performances from last year. I don't buy that he suddenly regressed that much that his entire movement in the pocket just completely fell off. I think the ankle is an issue and will continue to be an issue until they sit down down and stop trying to work around it. Even the playcalling is vastly different with far shorter passing which I think is a direct response to the injury, to minimize him having to step into throws and potentially make it worse. Today Seattle just blew everything up with a series of blitzes and taking advantage of a center that has no business starting in the NFL.

I'd like to see Garoppolo sit for a few weeks and get his ankle right, get fully healthy and see what he looks like in a month. In the meantime, roll Mullens and Beathard out there and if you take the hit and lose a few games, then you take the hit but you give Garoppolo the last few weeks to evaluate him while healthy and see if he's going to fit into the offense going forward.

They can't afford to give away anymore games, the best case scenario is the 7th seed. We know what happens when Mullen's and beatherd starts

We saw in Atlanta what a shanahan passing attack is capable of. It's become clear that the QB play is keeping us from reaching that level.

If we can get our Mahomes in the draft, then we will own the NFC for years

He was there for the taking once and Kyle passed.

I'm all for tanking at this point and drafting a blue chip QB. With Mullens and Beathard possibly playing these remaining games, I don't have much hope of making the playoffs. Cut bait with Jimmy and go in a different direction.

Yes he did. You just have to get over it. They were primarily focused on turning around a historically bad run defense in the 2017 offseason. They brought in a lot of stop gap offensive players because of that. They didn't want to throw a young QB to the wolves. Then they made a move mid-season and got Jimmy G and for the remainder of 2017 it looked like a brilliant move. Things change. Mahomes could die in a car accident tomorrow, then where would the Chiefs be? Nobody is perfect at predicting the future.

I know you consider yourself the greatest GM of all time because you were beating the Mahomes drum, but you just gotta let it go, man. Or become a Chiefs fan. Sure, you get a cookie for being right on Mahomes. Congrats.

49ers are not going to the playoffs this season. Period. Give up on that hope.

Sit Jimmy until he's well enough to play. Perhaps he can have the final three games. If not, just sit him down. Let Mullens run the team. The season went out the window when we lost four of our best defensive starters. You can lose one, maybe two, but FOUR?
Jimmy looks lost and confused. doesnt make those fast throws. looking at Mullens last night (vs Sea) I could tell the difference right away. Nick threw the ball much faster and was processing the plays at a faster rate.

They weren't blitzing at that point

Jets have a rare opportunity before them. Darnold isn't the main problem. Coaching staff and lack of personnel is. They already have Seattle's 1st. If they get #1, kings ransom could get them another a 1st and 2nd or 3rd in 2021 and 2022. Plus 2nd highest cap. They can definitely rebuild that team in a year( like Miami) if they get the right ppl in the FO.

Or they just take the top best QB prospect since Andrew Luck and dump Darnold. Darnold isn't the main problem but he's definitely a problem that a coach could spend years trying to develop into a workable starter and still fail.

I felt the same way you did.... earlier in the season. Buy now it's been 5 starts and no improvement. I don't think another 6 starts are going to make any difference. I'll be stunned if he plays well enough at the end of the year for Shanalynch to have complete faith in him for 2021.

Except I don't buy that its a performance or mental issue. He didn't just completely fall off a cliff in a few months time. I think like any player he still wants to be out there and he wants to be playing and Shanahan knows that the path forward with Mullens and Beathard is a path to a heavily losing season so he keeps trying to make it happen and work around any issues Garoppolo might be experiencing but he needs to sit and he needs to sit for at least the next month, see what he looks like at that time because right now he just appears to be laboring just moving around in the pocket.

He used to be a flat out stud. How long does it take for the knee to heal. Absolutely he has no acceleration or zig zag. Maybe it will come back next year.
