FWIW I agreed with the people who said the 9ers needed the cap space to re-sign key players. I guess I underestimated the front office!!!
Jimmy is an insurance policy. Why cut him now? If we could get a 1st for him he'd be gone,...but given his contract and current status, there are no takers. But maybe there could be by game 3, so protect the young kid and hold out for now.
If he is somehow, some way on this team next year and nothing tragic has happened to the kid, then you certainly win because you'd expect them to be priming for a 2022 run if 2021 doesn't happen, and could certainly use the contract's final year cap space.
