And some fans including myself was so jaded with trash QB play for two decades that when an ABOVE average starting QB play comes in and HELPED the team transition to a winning culture, we appreciate that s**t. KS is a genius of a play caller and a great coach but the Niners were still a laughing stock team until Jimmy G showed up and HELPED KS changed that. Everyone and their momma knew HE HAS LIMITATIONS and needed an upgrade one way or the other which they did this offseason, it's what good teams do, but we still appreciate what Jimmy G did to help this organization transition from being the bottom of the barrel to at least midrange at this point. Now we're hoping and banking on Lance to take us to the next level, the top level but until then Jimmy is still on the roster and still f**king awesome

P.S: My bad had to sprinkle a little 9moon capitalized post bc I didn't want some to skip those main words and think I'm calling Jimmy G elite or he did it all by himself.

All good, for whatever reason I do the capitalized stuff too.

hey I've never said I didn't appreciate what Jimmy did, in fact I've said I respect him and also his professionalism. I don't think he sucks, he's a startable QB. We haven't see that outside of a couple yrs of Kap in some time…doesn't change the fact that we should expect more than what he is. We're not the Bengals who are cool with mediocre. He's one of the highest paid players this yr and that shouldn't be acceptable imo.

people bring up Kyle's record with and without Jimmy in SF, but constantly skim over the other QBs that played & how awful they were…not a single team in the league is gonna win games with the likes of Mullen/CJ/Hoyer they're career backups for a reason.

i will root for Jimbo as long as he's a Niner and I will respect him wherever he ends up next…

I agree with both of these. But having the same players out there consistently also helps a lot.

Right I've stated in here a couple times I respect Jimmy and think he's a great professional…I've pointed out to what he's good at in this thread but yes have been critical of him. IMO we as a fan base should expect more of our QB who's making top end money.

He's not a special talent and an avg starting QB on a elite salary right now, I have no idea how people can disagree with that statement…put fandom to the side and be objective. I never wanted Jimmy to be avg, s**t I wanted him to be the next Brady and hope we never have to give up 3 1sts for a QB…well that wasn't the case and here we are.

Yes you can throw any QB out there, but what's more important stats or wins..

Like I said Goff/Dalton both won a ton of games (more than Jimmy) and I have them all in that same tier of talent.
you go off on comparisons of other players to make a point which has nothing to do with our situation nor does it make it a solution

For what ever miracles that be, Jimmy has been the only one that could win in the Kyle Era, can Lance win also?..we don't know. He has the tools.. but that doesn't gurantee anything because no team is perfect

So what you want me to compare Jimmy to Nick Mullens lol? Oh okay Jimmy is better duh. He's also making $25.5M per year more then him.

what's the point in championing for Watson then? we have no idea if he could be better than Jimmy…he's never played here or with Kyle. See how dumb that sounds…

You want to compare him to trash to make him look better have it, objective fans aren't playing that game.

lol so extreme

how is it dumb, it's the actual truth. every move is a gamble. some players make the gamble less risky but there are no guarantees

my point is, reality. This team in it's current situation. not fantasy land on what other QBs can do here. It's not happening

It's one thing to say "Jimmy is lacking in pocket presence and mobility."
It's another to say "Jimmy is a f**king statue that has never avoided a sack in his life!."

True. Hyperbole happens on both sides of the Jimmy argument.

But its mainly Gore doing that so let's just blame him and move on. Jk

And for the record Jimmy does have the slowest 40 time of any starting QB in the NFL. So his mobility is not a strength of his game.

How is that extreme? How is it any different then what you're talking about? You said we can't compare Jimmy to other QBs in the NFL that haven't play on this roster...we can either do it or we can't not when it's convenient for a narrative.

Lol your point is literally that you're comparing Jimmy to 2 UDFAs and a over drafted late 3rd rd pick...none of which will ever be starters in the league. Jimmy is a starting QB in the league and better than three turds, great we can all agree there. Let's at least throw context into it.

Throwing out things like winning % 3rd down conversion rates and then NOT being comparing that to other similar QBs? What the hell is the point of even throwing out random stats then?

Episode 2: Why Kyle Shanahan became a scaredy-cat and decided to pass only 8 times in the NFCC vs. a team he already beat

This is my favorite episode because they ignore the fact that once Green Bay scored on back to back possessions to make it a two score game in the 4th quarter, the 49ers ran three pass plays on the next possession as part of a nearly 5 minute drive to get the lead back to 17. Also ignores that they actually ran 12 pass plays, but one resulted in a sack and three resulted in defensive penalties.

Jimmy lacks mobility and pocket awareness to avoid sacks, so yeah, he's pretty much a sitting duck back there.
