It takes a lot for me to consider blocking someone. Other than the obvious trolls who occasionally drop into this forum. I hate doing it and it's a very last resort for me.

Yet in reading quite a bit of stuff that reveals some things about football knowledge to me, and then to keep reading stuff over and over again as if trying to get their 2 cents in as much as possible to make sure they're "heard", enough can become enough.

Come on man, don't be that guy. Your last 50+ posts can be summed up with, "when Jimmy is healthy, plays the whole game start to finish, the team scores 29 PPG, and is very hard to beat." Yes, NY says the same stuff over and over again. So do you. So do I. So does everyone else. The last 1000+ pages haven't offered anything original. It's the off-season.

Right, it's the offseason. Completely agree. But when you're (not necessarily you) continuously flooding this thread, Lance's thread, etc., with certain stuff it gets old fast. It actually got old for me a long time ago but I've beared with it. When I see certain stuff just thrown up there like inside intel has been gained, or when I see continuous posts that speak in absolutes, enough can be enough like I said. Especially when it's about the QB position, which I feel I know well.

My last 50 posts? I don't post on here all that much, especially when the season starts. But in the offseason, I do post more. Anyway, I call them like I see them...in following this team and this game closely for the past 44 years along with playing it myself. Not going to act like I know it all but I'm definitely going to call out B.S. stuff when I see it. Or maybe that's my problem - maybe I shouldn't.

I'll agree that when it's all said and done, we're mostly all (hopefully) Niners fans here.

Edit: I will give credit where credit is due and say that certain such posters have a good knack for drumming up good football discussions in various other threads, which I can appreciate in forums like this (especially in the offseason). Also, whatever I do or say is not mean to be personal, though I can see how at times it can come across that way.

And we have no idea how far back into this offseason or maybe even towards the end of last season Shanahan & Lynch were actually thinking & discussing guys like Dalton or Flacco coming in to improve the overall QB room. Anyone who says they definitely know when exactly Shanahan & Lynch were doing so isn't being truthful - unless they have some inside sources with this team.

Right? I've had a lot of good convos with LottDMontanaO in the past, only now because I don't agree with the Jimmy stuff is my "football knowledge" regarded as bad. Oh well. No hard feelings.

right.. ShanaLynch already said they will look at everything.. but that doesn't confirm what they want to do.

unless it's official that we made an offer.. then i can believe we were serious.

I think he was definitely an option. The timing makes sense as well. There were several factors that went down during the off-season that led them to drafting Trey Lance. If they traded for Watson or Stafford it wouldn't have happened. If they signed Dalton or Flacco they probably still trade up to #3. They're not upgrades over Jimmy so they'd be upgrading the room but not the position as a whole. If they signed Dalton or Flacco, Jimmy would be cut or traded. Trey would still have been drafted. I'm much more happy with Trey and Jimmy and they way the whole thing played out.

Agreed, AllTheTime.

The plan was to upgrade the QB position. Whether it was by trade, FA, or draft. They may have been in on the Stafford talks but the Rams overpaid. They may have tried to upgrade the backup position with Dalton and Flacco, etc. The Bears overpaid. They decided at some point that the draft was their best shot to upgrade. They gave up a lot but got an extremely gifted and athletic talent at a premium price and age. They may not have planned for all of that because of outside factors (other teams, cap reasons, etc.). What they did do was plan to upgrade the position as a whole and they adapted to what other teams were doing and what the players they may have wanted were doing. In the end they accomplished their goal and upgraded the QB position.

Perfectly said. Hear hear

The combo we ended up with, since watson was off the list is probably the best combo i feel (future wise)

I get what you're saying. The bold I have to ask you: If no Garoppolo and the Niners had Dalton (or Flacco) & Lance, would you be comfortable with Dalton or Flacco starting this season as QB1 for this team as there's a good chance that could happen considering Lance is a rookie? I wouldn't at all want either of those guys at QB1 for this team, and it has everything to do with winning many games.

We'll see what happens in Chicago this year. They have Dalton and he's been named QB1 with Fields behind him. We'll see how the Bears do going into the season with Dalton. And I've always liked Dalton and what he's done as a QB...I'll admit I actually wanted the Niners to get him instead of Kap in that draft but he went just before the Niners picked if I remember correctly.

A losing season or a winning season.

You do know Dalton had 4 straight season of 10+ wins with the freaking Bengals. Nah we would have won games with him all the same. Jimmy isn't $20M better than him IMO

I know he is 24-40 over the past 5 years.

anyone thinking if we landed Dalton or Flacco that meant SF wasn't gonna move 3 1sts and get Lance is being silly.

If they couldn't get Stafford/Watson/Rogers it was gonna be moving up for a top rookie. Those other guys were bridge QBs, much like Jimmy just a s**t ton cheaper.

LOL at characterizing Stafford option A and Lance a consolation prize.

bro i swear every post I read about Stafford has your name above it haha

LOL

Nah, we are good.
He never showed any interest when he was available and had his eye on Trey.
