It's very easy to imagine a scenario where Jimmy starts the season, throws a pick in the first game but wins, whereby a dedicated portion of this forum will come in here and say, Trey wouldn't have thrown that pick, he should be starting. The next game Jimmy takes a couple of ugly sacks, but wins and those same people will be in here saying, Trey wouldn't have taken those sack, he should be starting. The third week Jimmy misses a long pass at the end of the 2nd quarter that could have been a TD but comes back to win it in the 4th and those same fans will be in here saying, Trey wouldn't have missed that throw he should be starting. And then every week through the first half of the season, Jimmy has some small hiccup but ends up winning for the most a part and the team goes into the last half of the season at 7-1 or 6-2 and all the those same posters will be saying, Trey wouldn't have lost those games he should be starting. It will all be so predictable, winning won't be good enough unless it's 'their" QB who is doing it.
Nah…its more or less if Trey could be doing the same thing. Throwing a pick here or a bump in the road there BUT they still will, then he should be starting plain and simple.
no one is expecting either dude to be perfect, but developing Lance getting him starting reps should be part of this year's equation.
If you're fine with Jimmy's " hiccups" then you should be fine with Lance's all the same…difference is one guy actually is the future with MASSIVE upside and the other is on his way out. Imo we can win games with either QB
