jesus dude like taking to a broken record.
Anyways Not the point..
You guys keep saying he wanted stafford & Dalton, and every other qb out there.
I'm just saying If he wanted stafford then there was no way he was getting lance & I don't believe for a minute he wanted stafford at all.
I think once he decided to go all in on lance, then the rest of theIr activities were just window dressing..
Think he was just giving props to give props about the stafford trade to the Rams.
Dude relax.
yeah I'm saying it was reported they went after every possible QB out there. They were trying to improve the QB room including upgrading the starting position. That's not a myth or made up, it's a fact
We get it you love Jimmy and will defend him until he's not here…that's fine but be objective about the situation.
I'm sure you will defend Lance all the same when he's the starter…End of the day I will be just as objective with Lance as I've been with Jimmy.
let's get ready for TC and get ready to talk live football

We take entirely different views on how much Kyle wanted Stafford.
I am thrilled we got Trey. Shanahan and Lynch definitey think he is the future, and any real Fan would hope that's true, more so after what we spent to get him. No one want him to succeed more than I do. Doesn't mean I spend time and energy pushing for him start soon. I wish him complete success when he does take over the team. When the time is right.
Only view I'm taking on Stafford is what Kyle said....he was watching film on him, talked to his agent, and said he was legit interested. Missed out on him. Is what it is. It doesn't have to be Lance was his "backup" plan, it was just the timeline of everything. He just wanted to get better at the QB position end of the day. They had no idea they would be in a position to draft Lance (or done all their due diligence) back in January.
My whole take with Lance (like most 49er fans are pumped to have) is he's missed a full season of football and some in here think the best way for him to develop is to continue to not play football. I completely disagree with that. Like Kyle stated, "it's hard to get better at football, by not playing football." He's already done a lot of the stuff in his "lost season" that he would do in a red shirt rookie yr in the NFL, outside of learning just Kyle's playbook.
Now if he's completely clueless with the playbook, his mechanics are trash, or everything is just way too fast for him...sure let him sit. I'm sure that will happen at the beginning of TC and into week 1. BUT people acting like if he sits for a full year he's gonna be vastly better in 2022 vs actually playing some legit football in 2021 are only kidding themselves. He needs to play at some point, there will be bumps in the road regardless if they happen now or next yr. We're seeing QBs with the physical traits of Lance having success early because they don't have to be mentally there yet as a pure pocket passer. He's not gonna get mentally better until he actually get's to play vs NFL defenses in live action either.
We will see, I'm pumped to see how it goes.

Nice, I was born in Montana and a ton of my family went to the University of Montana. Pretty similar football programs and diehard fans (go Griz lol)
I had Fields as my QB2 so I kinda was hoping for him...I was a big fan of Lance as well. His skill set and what they did there are perfect fits for Kyle....after learning that he had high end football IQ I was fully on board.
We will see!

Yeah he's just an amazing coach...not like he wasn't given a great team overall. He's a middle of the pack HC who's opinion at this point doesn't mean much. Who cares.

So Jimmy is being treated the same as Andy Dalton. Seems about right

I am too, but this whole idea of he isn't the starter he isn't getting better is laughable to me. Practicing against NFL level competition, leading an NFL level scout team against NFL level defensive players are all worthy of his time and will be helpful. He needs to get on the field of course, but I am completely OK with the way Walsh transitioned to Montana. He knew he was special and designed the transition to give him the best opportunity to succeed. Put him in here and there , certain looks, certain plays, or when it wouldn't put the game on the line immediately. My hope is that JG plays well enough, the team is winning, and we get to see Trey come in and run some plays because we can, not because we threw him in just because we had to.

that's good because I do feel like Jimmy got somewhat complacent in terms of taking chances and developing more of a hesitancy to his game over time. or maybe overthinking? idk. whether that's due to injury no one will ever know. but it was a bit of a contrast to the more instinctive/decisiveness we saw back in 2017.
