I mean. You can fully blame Jimmy for the loss if you want to. Imo the defense loss that super bowl and it started at 3rd & 15

So then Jimmy's never lost a Super Bowl? Okay.

Lol @ blaming the D.. lawd smh.

First off random49er I never said Jimmy "never lost a super bowl", there's plenty blame to go around on what happened in that 4th quarter.

and yes the defense deserves a lot of it , giving up a 3rd & 15 when the Chiefs sideline was just about ready to quit, yes I know Bosa was held, bad calls are part of the game, champions find a way to overcome . Sherman getting manhandled the way he did. Even Jimmie Ward said Sammy Watkins was the reason KC won the game, I guess he's a Jimmy G simp too? I seriously wonder if some of you actually watch these games or just read stats on Twitter

The defense did their job for the most part for 3 quarters of the SB. there is no way i was going to be comfortable with a minuscule lead vs patty maholmes in the 4th.

with like 11 mins left in the 4th, the defense got yet another interception.
things were looking good.

the offense didn't score any points in the 4th when they had like 3-4 drives to do something.

so no for me i don't blame the defense on the loss just because they gave up that 3rd & 15.

Jimmy g and the offense as a whole did not execute as a cohesive unit enough to put the game away. that 3rd and 15 shouldnt have mattered. the offense failed to score any points. unacceptable. hats off to the chiefs d-line though. they manhandled us and really stepped up too.

When Moore got that INT a part of me thought the game was over, the Chiefs looked like they had no answers and were ready to quit, people were getting ready to post their "Pat Mahomes is a choke artist" takes . I do agree that the next series we should've AT LEAST came up with a FG, blame Shanahan and Jimmy for not executing. Giving up 21 points with less than 10 mins left in a game we had in our hands is horrendous, idc if we were playing the 98 Vikings

If I had been told ahead of that game that our offense would score 20 pts, there would be zero doubt in my mind that we would lose. Yes, it is ridiculous how quickly the Chiefs put up 21 pts on our defense, but 31 pts overall should have been a winnable game for us. It's also not possible for a team to give up 21 pts that quickly without both sides of the ball completely f**king up. The offense did nothing the entire 4th quarter.

The Chiefs were also a notoriously quick striking offense. I mean, they put up 51 points on the Texans despite trailing 24-0 midway through the second quarter, including a 28-0 run in about 9 minutes.

How did we go from "It takes 2 years to learn this offense" to "Trade JG and start a rookie" ?

RG3 picked up an abridged version quickly and was immediately successful. I agree it takes a long time to master the full offense, but Jimmy was successful with a few weeks in the system in 2017. And from everything we've heard, Lance is a quick study.

Good question.

And it's not so much "it takes 2 years to learn this offense"...I've heard it's more like "it takes two seasons to be close to mastering this offense," where you're on almost the exact same page as Shanahan when the play call comes in re: facing D formations, down & distance, game situation, etc. (I heard Matt Ryan was at that point sometime in his Year 2).

Two great things about this team's top two QBs going into this season: 1) Garoppolo has an excellent grasp of this offense and has shown he can be very effective; 2) Lance is said to be picking things up quickly and we keep hearing about his outstanding overall work ethic.

Thanks all.

Either way i am really hoping for a great season.

I like both QBs.

I have been on the let Trey sit and learn a from Jimmy train. But if Trey is playing on par or better than Jimmy in camp it will be hard to sit the kid.

Yeah, eased in is the best way to go - just got to let things play out.
I don't see the benefit in starting Jimmy over Trey at this point. He doesn't seem overwhelmed or out of place based on what we've seen so far. He's not nearly as raw as people here pretend. Yes, he'll have some growing pains and make some rookie mistakes, but if we're honest, Jimmy makes plenty of rookie mistakes too. At least Trey might actually learn from his.
