I'm not surprised. He hit his peak years ago and it's very rare to see players vastly improve after their mid/late 20s, and he's already 30.
With that said, we still need to see Trey play in preseason games before we give him the starting job. If he Jimmy also looks average in preseason but Trey impresses, then Jimmy does need to take that pay cut and just backup Lance.
Totally disagree. Quarterbacks often improve over the years, in fact you generally haven't seen anywhere near their best before the late 20's at the earliest. With the impact of the injuries I really can't see how you can make this sort of sweeping statement that he hit his peak years ago.
This is just training camp.
I can't think of too many QBs that have vastly improved after the age of 30.
QBs can still improve in their 30s if they are already great, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, etc. But outside of like Kurt Warner, can't really think of many other QBs that went from a middle of the pack, to being a top 5 type of QB or close to that.
