Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Los Angeles Rams

We are going to see the highest level Jimmy has played. Trey may push the competition but it won't be enough to start Game 1. Won't be surprised at all if Jimmy has a quick hook though.

If they were to do something similar with Jimmy's deal, I'd imagine the trade compensation wouldn't be very much. Probably a 5th at best. Is a 5th and some cap space worth having no reliable depth at QB? After what John and Kyle have been through thus far, I think they'd rather keep him.

If he's only worth a 5th to have for a couple years,...then he'll be cut if he doesn't take less.

I don't know why you think JG is only worth a 5th. Sam Darnold was traded for a 2nd and 4th and he was statistically the worst QB in the NFL last year.

Because the Panthers front office isn't very smart.

I'd have never sent that kind of draft capital for a certified bust in Darnold expecting a miracle. When they were drafting at 8 and could have taken Justin Fields. Carolina along with Denver and NYG will be looking for a QB in 2022.
i think people are forgetting JG has a no trade clause and zero reason to agree reworking his contract to do so.

and no, the Niners aren't cutting him either.

That's true, but there may be other FO's that aren't very smart either.

JG would welcome a trade If he thought he wasn't wanted here, especially knowing he could be benched at some point.

He also has no guaranteed salary.

If the 49ers played hardball and cut him he has to get a new contract. Very unlikely anyone pays him what the existing contract does (21 million I think for 2021).

I doubt the 49ers treat him this way but there is leverage to remove a no trade clause

the Niners would be stupid to cut him. the Niners aren't stupid. his salary is already worked into the 2021 budget. there's no reason other than JG doing something detrimental to the team or crimnal on or off the field that would cause the team to cut him.

How has he already been benched? We haven't played a single game yet lol

Just to be clear though, he knows his time his up, so why would he refuse a trade If the Niners we're to receive an offer?

he was benched last season.

if JG leads the team to a Super Bowl win, it's not guaranteed he's a goner. we've already heard the team is prepared for the possibility keeping him another year after this one.

im still waiting for your point?
