You don't give up 3 first round picks just because the other guy is missing games, that type of draft capital says replacement.

we gave up 3 first rounds picks is because no QBs worthy would be there at 12

I doubt thats the formula for giving up 3 first rounders.

its the exact formula. if you need a QB and there are no worthy QBs by the time you pick.. you will need to trade up.

Remember since november is was priority #1 to make QB depth a strength. They explored all options.. Keeping jimmy and drafting his future replacement was their best option they liked

They are joking about the draft capital, not Jimmy's injury consistency / history. If the 49ers merely wanted to get someone capable of running the system when / if Jimmy gets injured, they could have stayed at 12 for Mac, or moved up for Mac (not to third overall, though). They didn't move up to the third overall pick for insurance.

For a team that doesn't leak anything out i wouldn't trust the reports unless there is some 49er confirmation with it
