Treys here to fix this though
There is the point that Jimmy was concussed-as PasoDoc has observed.
Trey wasn't brought on because Jimmy didn't bring in a win at the SB, but because he had missed so many games.
JG is a winner who has a record of finishing games competively.

LOL

I thought his ankle was only attached by the skin?

You don't give up 3 first round picks just because the other guy is missing games, that type of draft capital says replacement.
we gave up 3 first rounds picks is because no QBs worthy would be there at 12

I doubt thats the formula for giving up 3 first rounders.
its the exact formula. if you need a QB and there are no worthy QBs by the time you pick.. you will need to trade up.

Remember since november is was priority #1 to make QB depth a strength. They explored all options.. Keeping jimmy and drafting his future replacement was their best option they liked

If Trey was selected at #2 who would be our QB right now?

Zach Wilson or Trevor Lawrence.

Had we stayed at 12 we still may have gotten Trey Lance. It's hard to know given all the craziness of the 2020 college season and scouting process.

We moved to 3 to reduce uncertainty.

Trevor Lawrence went #1 overall so we had absolutely no shot at him.

If Trey was #2 (After Lawrence at #1)...?

Where do we go at #3?

Teams trade 3 firsts to move to #3 to draft a starting FQB.

Chris Simms said Mac Jones then everyone else piled on.
For a team that doesn't leak anything out i wouldn't trust the reports unless there is some 49er confirmation with it

They are joking about the draft capital, not Jimmy's injury consistency / history. If the 49ers merely wanted to get someone capable of running the system when / if Jimmy gets injured, they could have stayed at 12 for Mac, or moved up for Mac (not to third overall, though). They didn't move up to the third overall pick for insurance.

Mac wasn't worth drafting at 12

Meanwhile, there were all kinds of leaks that Jacksonville was taking Lawrence at 1

I agree. But, that's not the point. The point is, moving up to #3 overall merely for insurance, doesn't stand up to any sort of scrutiny.

yet it is.. it's insurance this year and the future next year
From what I've been reading jimmy sounds like same qb we've gotten since 2019. He will be fine if healthy but Lance is gonna creep up a lot quicker than even Kyle anticipated.

You lost me bud..
The poise, diplomacy and class with how he answers and deals with the infinite TL questions is truly amazing. I would've completely lost my f**king mind by now.
