You don't see drafting Trey in the manner they did was ruthless? Why or Why not?

It would have been ruthless if they kept him in the dark about it.

Bringing in his replacement is more ruthless than whatever Goatie is referring to. No mass exodus thus far.

It was the smart thing to do. After a couple of seasons with CJ and Mullens they needed a two good QBs. Time will tell who will be the best.

I am not yet persuaded by the hype that Trey will take us to the SB in his rookie year. Many high draft picks have crashed and burned after showing a lot of promise even under Shanahan. For example Soloman Thomas, RGIII. Trey certainly has promise but he ain't there yet.

How is that ruthless? Telling a QB that when healthy they love him but it's a business so they need to line up someone in the wings until he can prove to be healthy?

You really think JG doesn't know the teams record when he's not available? If he were the GM he'd do the exact same thing. He's not pulling a butthurt Aaron Rodgers issue, he knew this was coming and I'm sure they let him
know last year after BDM turned out to be a flop that there would be some changes over the off-season to hedge against his injury history. JG knew what was coming and expected it, maybe not trading up to 3 but he knew something was gonna happen.

This is a billion dollar business, unless your name is Brady or Rodgers etc. every player knows they aren't safe unless they consistently produce on the field and unless they are a QB.

Exactly. Everyone is expendable if they are not up to par

I didn't say it's ruthless, though.

Was just responding to the gist of the thread and that reply stream, wasnt meant to be a response to you specifically, my b if it came off that way.
Here's my thoughts, Jimmy can obviously lead the team to the Super Bowl which he already has done, but when more has to be put on his shoulders in the playoffs we really don't know what we're gonna get since he didn't have to play outstanding to get us to the super bowl. When the time comes again for him to make plays for us in the playoffs, I'm not fully confident Jimmy G will make the plays, but thats just my opinion based on his play in the year we lost. That doesn't mean he won't make the plays when we need it come it this time if we somehow get there again, but if the time comes again and he falters that'll be twice and getting to the super bowl, hell even the playoffs isn't an easy feat. I wish he does great this season and wins us the CHIP! because I'm all for the 49ers success regardless who is at the Helm. I just want another trophy

Holy f**k my brain has to do some serious gymnastics to try to make sense out of what some of you say.

Not really,...just a little more patience. The ruthless stuff was Goatie's commentary. Trace back to him.

He brought up the word ruthless to describe how some in the forum would handle Jimmy. You then implied that the team drafting his replacement was ruthless.

In the NFL, we call this 'business'
