He's a good guy, a team player, no one can knock him for that.

I'm not sure how long Jimmy can hold onto that starting job

Me neither. We'll just have to see.

either way it will be a couple of weeks. no matter what, he'll get the benefit of the doubt of it only being preseason if he plays bad, and if he starts off poorly, it would take at least 3 games for the switch to happen.

i just don't think he will play that bad to get pulled though, it will take an injury for that to happen imo. especially with how good this offense is now, it's gonna be hard for him to play bad.

Throwing It short on 3rd and 15 Is what frustrates you Jimmy. That's something you'd expect from a rookie, not an experienced QB who's been In the league as long as he has.

Jimmy really is a good guy. Hearing the part with Lynch asking will he get a chance breaks the heart.

I'm not sure what that proves?. Every QB makes plays at some point In their career. Jimmy Is still known for checking It down first and foremost.

You guys keep talking draft picks. How about enjoy the season, hope Jimmy balls out and takes the team on another deep playoff run. There will be plenty of time to discuss picks in the off-season

Agreed - good post.

+1

That no trade clause is going to keep him here this season.

Huge benefit to having JG play well this season. It pretty obvious for various reasons even if your not a JG fan.

Trey is clearly not ready anyways. Give the kid some time to learn the position. Dont rush this kid especially when you have a servicable QB on the roster.

Kyle dialed up a bunch of dink and dunks for Jimmy… more of the same

Like you said, that's what we expect from Jimmy. We know and Kyle certainly knows that he's accurate on those plays and he is less likely to get sacked when they get the ball out quickly. Notice how much more they tried to go downfield with Trey in there. Yes he got sacked a lot but they didn't hav ethe starting OL in there and Trey was probably told not to run around. They didn't even try one zone read with him in there.

I fundamentally disagree. I think cutting Jimmy (or trading, but that seems unlikely) is best option, but present Jimmy with $10-12M or so plus bonuses for playing. That's a better deal than he could get in the market right now, no one has that cash and would want him.

I still strongly believe Lance is starting week 1. The question is whether Jimmy is the backup and for how much.

I trust your judgement on all other issues here on the zone, especially knowing where you work

But this is not happening IMO, the team will be better off now and in the future with Lance sitting this year. Was probably their plan all along and although Lance has flashed in TC, they will stick to their plan

We will find out in a few weeks for sure
