But this is not happening IMO, the team will be better off now and in the future with Lance sitting this year. Was probably their plan all along and although Lance has flashed in TC, they will stick to their plan

We will find out in a few weeks for sure

Yes we will. Future is bright

Jimmy looked good last night in limited action.

Did he? He didn't really do anything either way. A few short passes and then threw it short on 3rd and 15. The offense is still too reliant on guys like Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle creating YAC and barreling over guys.

Umm isn't that what you want the QB to do is rely on his weapons??

To an extent, yes, sure. Though, if we want these guys to remain healthy we need to ask Deebo and the others to stop forcing so much contact. Right now, our offense is reliant on our playmakers being extremely physical and it shouldn't be a surprise that none of them made it through last season healthy.

It is what he didn't do that is important:

a) He didn't get sacked once (let alone 4 times) with the Chiefs no 1 defense

b) He did not miss a pass (compared to 4 out of 15)

Trey showed he can land a long pass. He did not show he was able to convert 3rd downs and has to work on his pocket awareness. It is a big step up from college football and he is still obviously raw. To even entertain he will be the starter in game one is utterly unrealistic. Shanahan and Lynch roll a bit smarter then taking such risks.

While Trey has potential he needs to be honed by the coaches for a fair time yet. Now is not his time.

I wonder if him only attempting 3 passes had anything to do with him getting sacked less or throwing incomplete passes. I kinda want to say it does...

None of them made it healthy due to a lot of things, but mostly conditioning. Not sure if you remember but Covid restricted a lot of things like OTA's, mini camp and training camp and Preseason. It wasn't just playmakers on offense that were injured, it was pretty much the whole goddam team.

Am I making sense, a certain poster says I just like to argue and not make sense. So just checking!!!

You're not wrong in the sense that Covid obviously impacted their conditioning.

However, Deebo and Kittle have both missed time outside of last year. I think their physical style of play is going to get them banged up pretty frequently. If we rely too heavily on them taking short passes and running over guys to get YAC, it'll become even more frequent.
All these QB's think most of you fans on here are sloppy ass idiots. Get your s**t together faithful, we got two QB's who can win right now. Be excited for whoever is on that field. They will both have their good and bad games.

also Jimmy throwing no further than 4 yards helped too.

You also want the QB to throw further than 5 yards.. especially your starter otherwise we might as well just be handing off every play like classic gore style.

I hope we weren't wrong and shoud have just stuck with Jimmy and having blown our wad on Trey.

Time will tell obviously. I'm not going to belabor it and I'm biased but to me Fields was basically the same player only faster, more accurate, and did it at a higher level. I get the intrigue with Trey and hope he'll be great. But even now, for all the people who say "start Trey now", if you wanted Jimmy gone or as an expensive backup and insurance policy, Fields was probably the guy more ready to start- Chris Simms's evaluation and criticism notwithstanding.
