I come in here and ya'll are still talking air yards.

Let's talk about WHY Jimmy looked so comfortable.

For the first time in his entire 9er career, Kyle called a spread offensive game plan with the most 3 and 4 WR sets I've ever seen. Shotgun. Limited, if any PA passes with his back to the OL. Both RB's and TE's were available receivers and not staying in to help with pass protection.

In short, he just got to sit back there and pick his open receiver (his entire career outside of here in SF) including off schedule plays (2017).

With Mitchell rolling now and Hasty as the 3rd down pass catcher and Kittle potentially coming back, the only question is, "Will Kyle stay with a spread offense going forward and keep ALL of these receiving options out in routes?"

Most QBs will look comfortable when the pass rush is non-existent. It also allowed us to send the TEs and RBs
out more rather than keeping them in to block (theoretically). I think that's the more likely reason for why Jimmy looked more in control.

Nobody understands the importance of quality pass protection more than me. LOL.

But the flip side is, if the RB's and TE's are out in routes, even if there is quick pressure he's got more options at all three levels of the field, sometimes multiple options.

And that happened a few times last night mitigating the quick pressure.

Now to your point, let's wait until he's getting blasted before we start keeping Kittle and the RB's in for extra pass protection (4Q of the Superbowl).

Until then, let Jimmy have his options and do what he's most experienced and comfortable with.

But that just might be me...

All this talk about the first half just has me laughing.

Trying to discredit yesterday's performance with "Well the first half" is like trying to dismiss a loss because "Well we dominated the first half"

Welp. Looks like the Rams will be legit contenders If they pull this off.

Lol and he was actually pushing the ball downfield with those spread looks…one of his highest IAYs to date. It's all connected dude.

Absolutely. You could see him getting more and more comfortable and confident. Even his mechanics were far better.

Naturally a 55 yard air yard completion is going to massively skew IAY because it's based on an average. This is why mobile QB's are always highest on that stat...they almost always go deeper on off schedule plays. It still virtually says nothing about anything meaningful. That's why it's comical to spend so much time talking about it. But to each his own.

Now if it lead to a strong correlation with points, OK.

They saw Jimmy's game yesterday and decided they needed more help.

John Lynch: "Wait, we can make trades like that?"
Jimmy came from a spread offense and then was converted into Alex Smith. They shoulda been using him like this the entire time

Someone wants to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Who is the Rams GM? And why does he have to keep making lynch look so bad?

They're going for it all at this point. I don't foresee Kyler playing this week then, as we're not seen as a legit threat.

I swear to God, right before the game, I was asking for this kind of game plan. I said i just wanted to see it one time. Just once.

NCommand is very happy today. Even if he crapped the bed, i just wanted to see it. Only Mitchell wasn't used in the passing game. 1-3 WR's were used, FB, backup RB and TE. Wait for Kittle to come back!

You're not understanding the word skew, just given the way you're using it. Jimmy's TD numbers aren't skewed simply because he had no touchdown passes and ran it in a couple times. We don't just throw the meaning of TD passes out for all other 31 starting QBs simply because our QB played well but had zero this week, do we?

Lol and Jimmy isin't the only player with a 50 yard bomb to account for in his stats, and the numbers simply are what they are. Everyone else gets those same opportunities and it's added to their stats as well.

Only small samples can be "skewed",....e.g.,...if we're only going to talk about his air yards for the 1st quarter only of a game and try to run with a point. Meanwhile, the coach was setting up short stuff during the 1st quarter to go long later in the game, and did so, yet we only looked at the 1st quarter.

That'd just make very little sense, but nobody's been doing that here. We're discussing game averages and season averages, which adds more and more relevance to their meaning.

Air yards isin't a sole argument,...but when someone says we're not testing the field, they can back the argument up with air yards, just as in this game.

Again, random going random again.

We're literally talking about IAY.

If you're going to chime in, at least try to cover the topic of discussion and then compliment it with a rational related point.
I gotta salute the rams win or lose. f**k it why not go all out.

Nice game by Jimmy. Hope Sean Payton has a dream tonight about Jimmy's great performance against the Saints in 2019.

not sure how many times it needs to be said but it's not up to either of them. Jimmy has a no trade clause.

Yeah but man... getting to play under Sean Payton, who likes to throw down field.....getting to play in a Dome... getting to face Tom Brady for at least a year, or maybe two.

He could be their QB of the future. He would have a real home. Also, Sean Payton was about to take Drew Brees (after coming back from a major injury) and help turn him into a HOF QB.

Just saying, seems like a good situation to go to....compared to chancing it in the offseason... and settling with a team that might draft a young QB high.

Edit- yikes, just saw their cap space.
