They do this every year. Cards made big time trades. Even the Hawks "tried" with Adams and others (LT).

Remember when John Lynch "tried" for Khalil Mack?

Lol and he was actually pushing the ball downfield with those spread looks…one of his highest IAYs to date. It's all connected dude.

Absolutely. You could see him getting more and more comfortable and confident. Even his mechanics were far better.

Naturally a 55 yard air yard completion is going to massively skew IAY because it's based on an average. This is why mobile QB's are always highest on that stat...they almost always go deeper on off schedule plays. It still virtually says nothing about anything meaningful. That's why it's comical to spend so much time talking about it. But to each his own.

Now if it lead to a strong correlation with points, OK.

You're not understanding the word skew, just given the way you're using it. Jimmy's TD numbers aren't skewed simply because he had no touchdown passes and ran it in a couple times. We don't just throw the meaning of TD passes out because he played well but had zero, do we?

Lol and Jimmy isin't the only player with a 50. yard bomb to account for in his stats, and the numbers simply are what they are.

Only small samples can be "skewed",....e.g.,...if we're only going to talk about his air yards for the 1st quarter only of a game and try to run with a point. Meanwhile, the coach was setting up short stuff to go long later in the game, and did so.

But nobody's been doing that here. We're discussing game averages and season averages, which adds more and more relevance to their meaning.

Air yards isin't a sole argument,...but when someone says we're not testing the field, they can back the argument up, just as in this game.

Again, random going random again.

We're literally talking about IAY.

If you're going to chime in, at least try to cover the topic of discussion and then compliment it with a rational related point.

The word intended doesn't change how poorly you're using the word skew. We cant take a whole game or whole season worth of data then argue that a 50 yard bomb skewed the numbers,...lol. Huh?

Like the other QBs can't have 50 yard passes here/there too?

That just has zero rationale. Skew <-----> Short Sample Size. Nothing to dispute as that's literally the meaning in this context.

Legitimately going deep (completed or not) softens defenses up (which allows for more stuff underneath) and also draws pass interference calls,...that's how we lost our last game. Forget your disdain of #s for a moment and just think logically.

How do the Rams and Cards have the unlimited money and assets to keep acquiring these guys?

If we had traded for Mack, we probably would have regretted it after Jimmy tore his ACL.

The Broncos basically agreed to pay Miller's entire salary as part of the trade.

IAY isn't about completing passes…it's about depth of target. Yes your IAY goes up when you actually throw the downfield. That's the whole damn point lol. And look, success.

no one is saying he's gotta chuck it downfield every play, no one is saying he's gotta be top 5 in the league in IAY, just NOT damn near last.

What do you guys think, JG to the Saints!!?

I'll give him full credit for that. The O line gave him plenty of time to spot the receiver and step into the throw. Deebo had time to get position on the defender. It was how plays like that are supposed to look when everything works together.

The 83 yard screen play is the one that really skewed the numbers. A five yard pass behind the line of scrimmage goes for 83 yards. Few screens gain that many yards. It raised his QB rating from 88.3 to 100.3. All on one play.

Clown post. This isn't Madden you can't just trade for a QB to fill a short term need for QB. What he's going to absorb the Saints system in 4 days? Gimme a break. Don't they have Taysom Hill on roster?

You're right, I don't see us trading Jimmy to the Saints. Even if we wanted to, the Saints have no reason to believe that Jimmy would be an upgrade over Taysom Hill.
