I think JG was making a point out there. He was running the Trey package and doing it better than Trey to be honest. That was an absolute game for the ages. Even more impressive considering how many drops our receivers had. JG has the fire in him. Open it up and let him throw.

Any HC would call more deeper shots like that because they become a higher % throw vs. guys like Kendrick Bourne, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. In fact, if Kyle was more interested in IAY, he'd freaking draft personnel with that strength and skill set.

speed and elusiveness? Who the hell is that on falcons... and don't you dare say Aldrick Robinson Matt Ryan can just throw the ball downfield better. It's as simple as that....I know it's really hard for you to admit.

NC I know you don't evaluate college prospects with the comment about not drafting WR that can catch balls downfield...I swear you never watched Deebo at South Carolina or Ayiuk in ASU with that comment.

I come in here and ya'll are still talking air yards.

Let's talk about WHY Jimmy looked so comfortable.

For the first time in his entire 9er career, Kyle called a spread offensive game plan with the most 3 and 4 WR sets I've ever seen. Shotgun. Limited, if any PA passes with his back to the OL. Both RB's and TE's were available receivers and not staying in to help with pass protection.

In short, he just got to sit back there and pick his open receiver (his entire career outside of here in SF) including off schedule plays (2017).

With Mitchell rolling now and Hasty as the 3rd down pass catcher and Kittle potentially coming back, the only question is, "Will Kyle stay with a spread offense going forward and keep ALL of these receiving options out in routes?"

really? didnt seem too excessive

oh, come on gore. DISASTER? so dramatic lol. we didn't punt 1 time or turn the ball over. receivers dropped balls like crazy. Deebo, wtf? it wasn't THAT bad. overall Jimmy and the offense executed a lot better than what we've seen lately. for sure.

All this talk about the first half just has me laughing.

Trying to discredit yesterday's performance with "Well the first half" is like trying to dismiss a loss because "Well we dominated the first half"

yeah it was a bit of a stretch. i mean the offensive execution was night and day to the previous several games. in the 1st half.

IF your whole plan is to throw bubble screens/ shovel passes and a bunch of passes under 10 yards all year you don't need to pay the QB $27M to do that job.

And there it is. If you have a problem with IAY, you should be bringing this up in the Kyle Shanahan thread. Not the Jimmy Garoppolo thread.

Ya no doubt. If he had lets say Pat instead of Jimmy, I'm sure Kyles game plan would just involves 5 yard passes lol. That's obviously how Ryan wonMVP, and how Schuab let the NFL in passing yards.

Let me know when we get one of the two very best deep threats of all time...one because of speed and elusiveness and the other d/t size and athleticism. Two HOF worthy players.

Any HC would call more deeper shots like that because they become a higher % throw vs. guys like Kendrick Bourne, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. In fact, if Kyle was more interested in IAY, he'd freaking draft personnel with that strength and skill set.

See the problem is that you are too much focused on literally a streak a route, and there's no way else to use the whole field or different routes than running in a straight line. Like it's impossible to scheme guys open on a post routes, wheel routes, deep outs, etc. Like you need to have HOF players at WR otherwise its impossible to get open down the field.

They're going for it all at this point. I don't foresee Kyler playing this week then, as we're not seen as a legit threat.

yeah, Stafford has really pushed them over the top so far. they're a legit SB contender thanks to him

And PFF doesn't even measure the heart, the competitive fire. Seeing him spike that ball after his 2nd rush TD, it was like the weight of everything that happened in the offseason is off his back now.

Must've missed it. I apologize I don't believe in any stat that starts with intended. Lol a star based off of intentions not reality.

Yeah you did…it's Average Intended Air Yards, which is basically depth of target. Jimmy yesterday in a win had 9.3 IAY which is by far his best number this yr and one of his highest since being in SF.

Playcalling made a difference yesterday.

it all helped. all of the above really. i love how shanahan wanted to spread things out and open things up for jimmy to throw.

Lol "probably". It still explains nothing and says probably lol ffs

K dude you're not allowed to use a single stat on any player in this forum going forward. You clearly don't like stats especially anything that hurts your hero.

Dont want to hear you talk about another stat for the rest of the season. Not a one.

Just for fun, Jimmy's intended air yards per quarter:
1st: 8.9 (10 passes)
2nd: 13.9 (9 passes) [9.4 without the bomb to Deebo]
3rd: 6.0 (6 passes)
4th: 10.5 (2 passes)

love it!

It's absolutely astonishing how low our fanbase's bar for QB play has become.

Anyone who wants JG traded now =

He's just getting started. Imagine his trade value in the offseason after 10 more games like Sunday. We're getting our #1 pick back fellas.
