Yards are yards.

When evaluating a player yards are not yards.

A touchdown is a touchdown right? Jimmy played fantastic. Great game. But 300 yards and 2 touchdowns isnt a "game for the ages." This happens multiple times every week in the NFL.

Davis Mills has done this twice this season alone. Yes, Davis Mills.

Cooper Rush did this in his first career start. Yes, Cooper Rush.

Say that to the community that gets all lathered up over air yards.

Yards are yards.

Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that when discussing the team, yards are yards....but when critically analyzing a QB individually, they aren't the same?

I think JG was making a point out there. He was running the Trey package and doing it better than Trey to be honest. That was an absolute game for the ages. Even more impressive considering how many drops our receivers had. JG has the fire in him. Open it up and let him throw.

It's absolutely astonishing how low our fanbase's bar for QB play has become.

Not sure how many times a 49ers QB has thrown for 300 and ran for 2 TDs. To do that in your hometown, with the pressure of your job and future on the line, absolute no doubt game for the ages. 10/10 on that spike as well that was as good as Steve Young vs the Bears in the playoffs back in the day

The problem is he ran for 2 scores instead of throwing and those count less in Fantasy Football.

They count more in some leagues, never less.

Haha! Touche'

Ya'll are misfocused.

So why 9 IAY with Matt Ryan? Why has he always had a deep threat everywhere he's coached?

Why did he sign Godwin? He WANTS to take some shots, but he realizes Jimmy's strengths aren't there so he's built a team that fits his skill set. A bunch of YAC that can catch contested balls.

why is the only time benji is getting targets is when Lance is the QB?

Cause he only got playing time when Lance played because Aiyuk needed to elevate. Kyle would be the biggest idiot in the league if he drafted WR's for Garoppolos skillet, then turned around and spent 3 firsts on a quarterback to throw the ball differently. Lol.

And of course he wants to take some shots and be explosive. It's not like we haven't been calling them. 95% of the time we've called them we haven't been able to block or get open. Those are the 2 biggest reasons we haven't gone deep. Aiyuk is tipping all his post-corners, sluggo and corner-posts. The past 2 weeks have been better though.

We haven't had any of those guys HERE during Kyle's entire tenure here. Even Goodwin's speed was rarely used because he was a ghost route receiver used to free others up underneath. Once in a blue moon he'd be targeted deep on a deep post but Kyle's not drawing that up on a regular basis because that's not Goodwin's skill set.

Kyle's had 5 years to get ONE deep threat and has punted every single time for LOS separators and YAC monsters. Trey's in the house and he still didn't do it.

Are you sure that's what he wants or is that what he inherited and decided to use as an OC?

So you are just trolling. Got it.

Jimmy Garoppolo

Garoppolo also became the first 49ers quarterback to throw for 300-or-more yards and rush for two touchdowns in a game since Jeff Garcia vs. New Orleans Saints (12/10/00).1 hour ago

Yup being pumped for a win and our QB doing something that hasn't been done in over 20 years makes me a "troll".

This is our WZ.

Being pumped up for a win is what we are all doing. Calling Jimmy's game "one for the ages" and highlighting his 10/10 spike after a touchdown is not being pumped.

his IAY were pretty terrible on that spike anyways

I have hope for the playoffs again after Saints lost and lost Winston. I don't think that defense can keep up this level of play all year.

And like NC mentioned, hopefully we keep this sort of offense going forward. That was a very 2017 like game plan. The spread offense is definitely much friendlier for Jimmy and he seemed much more comfortable in it. If the run game can have the kind of success out of it going forward, there's no reason why we shouldn't be using more of a spread offense going forward.

A lot of weird distractions in here about IAY and semantics over how to properly express excitement over a win, but ultimately, this is all I care about going forward.

One of the biggest Jimmy homers I swear.

We had 9 pts at halftime.. (sure we missed a FG).. but that's not gonna cut it for us against other teams, as we've witnessed in past games.

If we fall behind because of slow starts again, (or not getting TDs) there's a good chance defenses would play us differently in the second half...if they know we have to pass to get back in it.

Now if this game some how ups Jimmy's confidence, then yes that would be a great thing and maybe we get TDs in the first half...instead of FGs going forward.

We have a winnable game coming up with Kyler out....Jimmy can't get more momentum than this going into practice this week..and into the game.

No one is an idiot to draft players that help their QB and play to his skill set. Prior to Jimmy everyone thought Shanny had a hard on for separators and speed. Since Jimmy, he's drafted a bunch of YAC guys that can catch contested balls.

His speed wasn't used because we didn't have the QB to use his speed.

kyle has had Jimmy as his QB for most of his tenure and has formed a offense around his $100M QB. Crazy I know

... Only because your buddy TreyDey brought it up and your support for Jimmy G caused you to hop right on...

It's literally a topic that just drives you nuts and you can't leave alone.

Just clarifying.
end of the day Jimmy played well and we won…let's keep the momentum going.
Jimmy completed a 50+ yard pass and this was the separation Deebo got on that play:

Draw your own conclusions.

One thing I noticed about the 1st half even the commentators were impressed by JG not letting the drops get him down, and noted his positive body language while rallying the group on the sideline. I think Murray out helps our chances but there is no such thing as an easy win. The Vikings just got beat at home by Cooper Rush. The temptation with Murray out may be to go to the ol' handoff, handoff, 3rd and long offense. Let's stay on the attack.
